Thanks. That might be a typo error. I don't like the scmp sentence either because it is double negative.

The more bizzare a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be.

I wouldn't say I'm too caught up in double negatives but I think we do need them sometimes even in good English for emphasis, as in "there is no reason why people should not listen to Submarina" or in Steve Jobs' famous words, "there is no reason not to follow your heart."
