啟思的英文程度

我留意了學校多年, 又看了很多留言, 發覺大部份人都認為學校既英文很一般.

到底有無家長可以分享下, 我不是要求高的人, 但學費已經貴, 如果再比錢去補英文真的不得了.

Usually IB curriculum is better in High School than in Primary School

English is below standard unless children have good home environment or taking classes after school.  That's for sure

Be fair, it's a Chinese school.  Chinese n math are up to TSA standard n even better, so u really can't expect they have time to teach your kid good English while all subjects r in Chinese except eng.  so, it's your choice,

School has good English resources or standard, teachers r native teachers, mostly from the UK.But for an average kid from local full Canto family, n no other English helping from anywhere, I think the answer is easy to guess, unless u expect he is a born talented kid.

由於有很多人都討論啓思, 容許我講一下今年小二的英文課程:

課程有分幾個範圍:

1. English Journal --- 內容包括老師上課教的mindmap, 或每個星期的主題, 例如: sports, games.
2. English Vocabulary --- 每個星期, 老師會圍繞著主題教不同詞語, 而每堂都會按這主題作句, listening and speaking. 而接著下一個星期會有Spelling Challenge, 同學要把上星期學的words to spell, make use of the words (such as make a sentence).
3. English home learning A/B --- 如果今個星期用了A, 下個星期會用B. 每次都會有三個SECTIONS. 第一個要READ ALOUD 一篇文章, 詩歌. 如教了PHONICS, 要在文章中找出哪個字用了新教的PHONICS. 第二部份是VOCABULARY WRITING. 有時用主題教過的詞語寫30-50字. 而我會要求小朋友寫50字, 基本上沒有問題, 作了後我再改. 第三部份是JOURNAL WRITING, 如主題教了RULES AND INSTRUCTION, 便要做有關的功課.

另外, 他們有一本GRAMMAR EXERCISE, 每天做一篇.
另有COMPREHENSION　工作紙.
課外閱讀是他們的重點之一. 他們每星期派三本指定圖書, 然後要做簡單BOOK REPORT.

英文老師有兩位, 一個本地老師 (全堂英文) 教GRAMMAR, 另一個外籍老師教phonics, writing.
每週有ＴＥＳＴ或SPELLING　CHALLENGE.

it seems the English curriculum is quite comprehensive!
