我呢排幫個女搞外國讀書，亦問過多間外國升學的教育中心關於小朋友新加坡讀書，亦聽到很多唔同意見，最終選去紐西蘭！你不妨去問下，了解多Ｄ先決定！（個人意見）

新加坡冇乜好處,第一,壓力大,第二,英文發音怪,第三,中學教育不出名,大學可能好d(eg. NUS)但比香港差不多(HKU/CUHK),我識有chinese indonesian都揀hku而放棄nus

I studied in Singapore for a few years but I was in one of the top girls' school there. If your child can get into one of the top ones, great. If not, don't waste your money and time unless you are migrating there.

My son also studied there because I had a job offer in Singapore. The reason I like it was because of the Mandarin standards. He also went to one of the Special Assistance Plan schools (where they teach English and Mandarin both as 母語). He is not very smart but he is certainly above average.

They stream your child from young. So, by secondary school, you are doomed into the different classes.

Gifted (mainly for Singapore citizens or children of Singapore citizens)
Express (SAP)
Express
- Science
- Arts
- Commerce (I think - not sure)
Normal (Academic)
Normal (Technical)

Not all schools offer Normal Stream. The good schools normally don't.

If, like one of my cousins, who went to Normal (Technical), his future is doomed. No Singapore U will accept him unless he excelled beyond expectations and could "crawl" his way back to Normal (Academic).

The normal stream kids have to do an extra year of secondary school.

Apart from that, if your child is above average, then go ahead and take the chance. If not, don't waste your time and money.

I am a Singaporean.  It is not true that those who studied in Normal stream will have doomed future.  Taking my sister as an example.  She was in the Normal stream and managed to get into local University and is doing very well in her career now.  The motive of having the Normal stream is not to filter the good from the bad students, but to allow the slower learners (at that age) to have one more year to absorb the same set of knowledge.  Whether this system is good or not is arguable though.  I won't go further on this subject.

Having said that, I do agree with martialartsmum that unless you are relocating to Singapore, I don't see a reason why you need to send your child to study in Singapore, coz there are equally good or even better universities in HK.  Personally I think we are doing well with our bilingual system (English as first language and mother tongue as second language) is good.  However there are always concerns on our accents, especially the Hongkongers.  This might or might not be your concern.

同意.強烈反對送小朋友去SINGAPORE.除非要在當地工作OR有親戚係當地.我自己都係澳洲返,壓力比較小,同埋多D出名既大學.以前D SINGAPOREAN 大學講師會比人投訴唔知佢講乜,加上只要係澳洲選啱學科,有機會申請移民;新加坡既話你都未必申請,
