i must speak for Scotman... if one would study aboard, very likely would get a professional recognition.

be aware of whether the license is recognized in hk, which most Medical field (such as Doctor, Nurse, Physio, OT...etc) are not recognized.  one needs to take another exam or even repeat the trainings in order to get a job in hk.

another thing is US has been using the 3-3-4 system and was not straightly convertible from the old hk 5-2-3 system.   i bet now hk is using 3-3-4, more ppl may consider studying in usa.

of course, financial consideration is important too...

因爲英國的基本課程教學好,不用再考SAT, 就可以升大學。而且美國私校應該係好貴。我都覺得讀完學位再去美國讀Masters is the best.

I think it is a matter of personal preference. All countries have good and bad universities and schools. Not all graduates of US unis have great jobs. Having said that, neither do all graduates of UK unis have great jobs. I went to UK for my education and worked in blue chip US firms. In fact, I worked in US firms almost all my life up to a senior management level. I had a great time. The Americans found my Southern British accent interesting on a Chinese while I found them to be great people to work with. I once had three American educated staff reporting to me and it was great.

US is great for certain subjects and UK, for others. For example, if I want to major in English, I'd go to a UK Uni. If, on the other hand, I want to major in journalism, I would go to the US. Business degree? Definitely US!!! Some of the best business programs are in many of the US Unis.

Although, it is hilarious that some of my friends' children want to go to the UK because the UK accent appeals to her. Oh, and some of them are fans of Harry Potter and not yet a teenager. I had to let them know that the boarding schools in the UK are nothing like the Hogwarths.

Oh, and I DO LOVE the flexibility in the US Unis. Wish I had that. Still, no regrets choosing UK for both myself and my offspring.

同意,我覺得美國太自由,怕佢易學壞,又多校園槍擊案。可能係我偏見卦

That was my concern when I sent my daughter to US high school 3 years ago. But in fact many boarding schools are not that "free" -- they impose many rules and regulations, and my girl sometimes complains that her school is even stricter than UK schools which her friends attend. She is finishing her high school this year and I haven't had any regret of making US as a choice.

邊一個國家的畢業生都好, there is the good and bad. It is solely a matter of preference. I fully admit that I was daunted by the number of pre-exams to go to the US to study. Also, it was sort of the family tradition to go UK if we go abroad.

I love my time studying in the UK and now, my son is also studying in the UK. He loves it there. I would still like to encourage him to go to the US if he wants to do a post graduate degree.
