回流返港，想幫仔仔報K1！。

各位，我有以下難題，希望大家可比我一點意見。我的兒子出生在2010年4月，我們已移民澳洲，現在打算回流返港並讓他在港讀幼稚園，但回港日子還未決定。我知道各幼稚園K1差不多開始要報名\面試。但如果我們決定下年3月才回港，是否趕不到在2013年9月入學？如果2013年不能夠入讀K1，可否在2014年入讀K2？（但我兒子未有在港讀過K1，而澳洲5歲才讀kindergarten)
我都不知道應怎樣做，請大家幫幫忙。thanks

First of all u have to decide whether u want to study in IB or local school in HK, if u need an IB school, u can browse the Websites of school like Kingston, Tutor Time, Boxhill and ESF, for local stream, try St.cat, Kentville, Hong Kong Preschool, keen Mind....many many for application date.  You have to consider coming back to HK for interview and they can last from Sept 2012 to December 2012 sometimes. If u didnt miss the interview and being accepted, coming back in March 2013  doesn't create any problem for starting school at Sept 2013.

It's really difficult to get into K2 without going into K1. Also you should first select where you are going to live. It's quite tough for a kid to take school bus for over 45 mins.

We are from US and returned to HK early this year. My girl was born in 2010 too so she missed all the deadline for PN class. However, I sill sent out application and explained to the school our situation. Some of the schools gave us interviews after we were back, of course it depends on the availability of their space. You should start to figure out what school you want to apply for your son first.

Hi Littleape0129 - Your daughter borned in US or HK? My son was borned in Australia, therefore I need to apply a permanent visa for him to stay in HK before I can apply the school.  The whole process may take 8-12 weeks, therefore it may also delay the application for the school. It's a bit headache for me.

She was born in US. You should start sending out the application in Aus. You can come back first as a visitor and wait for the visa in HK. Once the visa is granted, you only need to go to Macau or China and enter HK again to activate the visa. That was what I did too.

No need to wait for the visa before applying. None of the school request to prove her residency in HK on the application. You may bring his visa along when going to interview to show them.

Thanks for that. Can I ask if your daughter is now holding sponsorship visa? 先批一年居留，然後3年再3年，對嗎？

Yes, she's holding a dependent visa. There's no way for her to get permanent residency even both parents are Hzk citizens she was born oversea. It will only be granted after staying here for 7 years. I'm still not sure if she's qualify to get the kindergarten subsidy for K1 too.

I just read another post......"教﹕學券是家長用作子女入讀合資格本地非牟利幼稚園及幼稚園暨幼兒中心幼稚園的學費資助。只要申請的學童是香港居民，擁有香港居留權、入境權或不附帶任何逗留條件（逗留期限除外）的有效香港居留許可". So i think we still qualify to get this subsidy.
