La Salle vs WYK

My son has been allocated to La Salle but personally I think Wah Yan College Kowloon suits him more. So we are pursuing a second chance to WYK.   Parents, am I being too stupid to give up La Salle?  What would you choose if it were you?

當年阿仔自行是LSC第一，WYK第二。最終入了LSC。兩間校風都是較自由，也是我們喜歡的原因之一。但因學術成績LSC較穩定和好，故揀LSC。阿仔讀咗兩年，很開心和投入。謹供參考。

絕對係。停一停，諗一諗，為乜你認為WYK比LS更適合你個仔?人地家長講?你又未入去讀?LS你吾係放在首選咩?除非你仔仔好多同學入左前者，所以佢想一齊，論學朮，我個人睇LS過好多，因為我親人都係LS，今年畢業了。他是外校生入，呢6年讀得很開心。

I believe that both schools are good schools and so in the end I will not complain.   My son is not a particularly outspoken person and tends to be very low profile, and at least it seems to me that the emphasis on excellence inherent in La Salle's culture may not suit his character (afterall we cannot be number 1 all the time).   WYK's education on the other hand focuses on inspiring students to develop their own potential and self initiative, may have a profounding impact on the whole life of their students.   Academic results are important, but not necessarily the most important thing in life - it is the ability to tackle problems, achieve life time learning and make sound judgement that counts.  
I hope that my view is correct.  Welcome our thoughts.

小兒都是very low profile，不outspoken的男孩，在La Salle一樣可以如魚得水，一樣可以找到志趣相投、性情相近的好朋友。

La Salle所謂強調excellence，只要小朋友和家長能調整心態，知道入得La Salle，已有好多「六尺高人」，不用再爭高了！舉個例，阿仔在Maths Team(校隊，每年要考入)，只是在中游位置，一樣學得開心。與數學尖子在一起，很老友，沒有自卑，反能讓他保持對數學的興趣。

至於話inspiring students to develop their own potential and self initiative，我想La Salle未必沒有。La Salle在課堂的教學上是較傳統(兩年間從小兒平日閒談得知)，但在課外活動參與中，見小兒從師兄身上感受到那份互相激勵及努力做到最好的team spirit及學校的高度放手，信任高form的學生能帶領師弟。例如最近為咗預備好校內一個表演，佢地可以留在學校連續幾天練到晚上差不多十一時，沒有老師在場。這種課堂以外的體驗，就是小兒最最享受的校園生活。

小兒只是F2仔，他的體驗不算長，只是小小分享。

Thank you cowboymama for your feedback.   I have not  shut the door yet to either school, in fact it is not up to me because up til now it is La Salle who accepts my boy.

LSC is consistent over decades but WYK is spiraling downwards with no sign of improvement.
