Look it up on ESF website.

My advise is you would really need to know how to play the ESF and international school admission game before you choose this route.

1. Does your child have foreign passport ?
2. Does he ONLY speak in English (i.e. Cat I)? (Ability to speak in Chinese means he can join local schools as ESF is primarily for students who cannot benefit from local stream).
3. Are you willing to give $400,000 (four hundred thousand dollars nomination fee for a better chance of interview for DC & RC primary schools?
4. A significant no. of my friends who graduate from ESF Kindergartens cannot get admitted to ESF primary this year. Do you have plan B (that is if your child can only speak in English)?

If your answers to all the above questions are yes, then congratulations. Your chance of getting onto the through train schooling from ESF kindergarten is high!

1. Does your child have foreign passport ?
Although ESF do not mention anything about foreign passports on any of their official statements, it is widely believed that children with foreign citizenship do enjoy a slight preference. I would treat this as hear-say but if the child does have a foreign passport then make sure this fact is included on the application form.

Hehe, if you understood what I posted, you wouldn't be asking this question {:1_1:}

Enter the foreign citizenship in the application form and include photocopies of the foreign passport. As I said, this is only hear-say, there is no guarantee that doing this will increase the kid's chances, but it certainly won't reduce it.

Enter the forei ...
In fact, a foreign passport does not really help.  My daughter did not have a foreign passport but she went straight in.  The only reason was she fit in one of their main criteria, i.e. we came back from overseas.  I met at the interview a girl who had a foreign passport but was failed.  She spoke good English but she spoke Chinese as well.  But as Fattydaddy said at the end, it doesnt harm to show your foreign passport.

The interview had nothing to do with PYP.  Although my information was a few years ago, I am sure the principle has not changed.  The school just wants to see if you child understands English.  During my child's interview, she was asked to draw and play with other kids.  The teacher also talked to her in a very casual way.  She was crying before going into the classroom so I was allowed to go in with her for a while.  The atmosphere was very friendly and casual.  I was quite surprised despite the short interview time, the teacher understood a lot about my child (as we had several email exchanges afterwards).  The teachers are really child experts.

Can anyone tell me if ESF's application is based on first come first serve basis or on suitable age?  Thanks!

I would suggest parents to go thru the admission policy and procedures directly.

Radiomama is right that everyone should go through the school webiste before applying.  But one thing is for sure...that it is not on a first come first serve basis nor based on the child's age.

Thank you so much Mighty!
i went through their website and got an idea that we shd apply at suitable age.  Just worried if sometimes even they've stated that way might not be exactly what it is.  Thanks again!
