I have to say, I endorse all the negative comments on TT Mid-levels.
Indeed, we joined (and quitted) TT quite some time ago, but from the comments above, seems like they have not made much improvements.
Back then, the English teachers changed rather frequently, but most of them tended to have a tendency of rushing through the 15 mins. circle / story / singing time ... when reading story books, it was really "plain" reading... of course, she couldn't catch the attention of most, if not all, the kids who just ran here and there or just kept shouting / dreaming ... the next 15 mins on so called "exploration" is in essence "free play" time, it is just that they would have a sensory table set up (with e.g. sand, water, pasta etc for the kids to touch / feel / play ), then another table with paints / drawings stuffs for art and crafts, then some toys on the mats ... the kids and the care takers would then be left to wander here and there, touch this and touch that until 15 mins were passed ... we were then asked to go outside to the so-called "playground" which is such a small small tiny place where you couldn't even try to push your kids' bicyle too hard or else they might bang on the walls ... the teachers again would wander here and there without much interaction with the kids... throughout my 9 months there, there was only one time when the teacher played bubble and parachute with the kids ... all other times, the kids were again left with their care-givers ...
to be honest, i was stuck with TT for 9 months solely because of the need to secure a PN seat (in case she got no other offer as she is a small b). Once she got an offer from another kinder back then, I stopped the class immediately; instead we went on to such an extreme back then that we just let them forfeit one month of tuition fee (they required one month notice to withdraw) 'cos I simply didn't want to waste any more precious saturday morning there.
All in all, i woudl think this was not a playgroup that is up to the required standard, let alone the top-notch brand of "tutortime".
We subsequently changed to the playgroup at Victoria (Upper Kornhill) which, i would say, is soooo much better that TT. Both my girl and my helper shared the same view.
Just my sharing for the reference of those who may be of interest. Just to avoid any doubt, the above are merely my personal and subjective feeling which may not reflect the views of many others. |
