You don't stand a chance, they take students from esf primary first, then expat families n other children from other IS before local school.  Your child may not even pass the English proficiency exam, even if he is from an elite local school.

Never say never though.  Just put in your application and see what happens.  At the same time, look for alternatives.

Likely to be very difficult... but doesn't hurt to try.... but best to have other alternatives and choices...  just in case it doesn't work out...

Just wondering what will be included in the English proficiency test? Will the kids' maths be tested as well?  Does Tsuen Wan fall into this catchment area?

My daughter is studying at KGV Year 8.  KGV is a Secondary School. If you Child wants to switch after Primary 5, I think you should look for Primary 6 instead of a Secondary School.  As I know Year 7 is very full (no matter which ESF Secondary schools) as ESF guarantee all their Primary students must have a place in ESF Secondary School.  When my daughter was in Clear Water Bay Yr 5 or Y6, she told me there was a boy from local school but his English was not that good so he seldom to speak.  You need to consider that point as well as the child may not be happy with the new enviornment, peers, or teaching style.

TSL 不是 IS, 不能同IS比較.  舊年升中除了本地津中同直資外, 就我知的就有1個入KGV 和3個入其他ESF中學, 未計唔知的.  這只是個別家庭走IS路的安排.只有IS有位, LS學生是有機會的.

我的建議，有心就先 apply，得就當中獎，唔得又 nothing to lose
係難，因為問題係真係冇位，不過唔試過又唔可以話一定唔得
國際學校，一般 year 9  和 10 會有一批因走去外國讀高中，到時可以再試

其實一向都好多 LS 學生成功轉入各間國際學校
要 YEAR 7  入 ESF 的確係難 D，因為 ESF 自己都要先安頓自己小學的學生，校網問題，要安排學位比學生
如果 YEAR 8  以上，年年都有人走，高峰期係 YEAR 9，有好多去外國讀 HIGH SCHOOL，係 LS 生找 IS 位的黃金機會

When you say "difficult to switch", do you mean "difficult to adapt to school life at KGV", or you mean "difficult to get into KGV"?

If it is the latter, here is some information from the ESF website.  The only school that still has Y7 spaces available is Discovery Bay College.

"Parents have been informing ESF Centre and schools of their intentions for the next academic year, following the recent request for payment of advance fees to secure students’ places. This information is very useful for schools as they are able to arrange interviews at an early stage to fill any places released.

Places will be available in some secondary schools for the academic year 2012-13:

if you consider races, i.e. Indian, etc. then better not to consider international schools.   All international schools are full of people of different races.  Some of the Indian students are extremely bright.
