Has anybody received the letter for this short course to be held from 9.7.2012 to 13.7.2012? It seems quite early to start bridging course. My daughter still needs to return to primary school during that period.

Hi,

It's really a bit earlier than I expected.
My daughter has to go to the primary school in the morning, until 12/7.
Got to enroll some other activities for her for the rest of July.

Yes too early. Still need to attend primary school function in the morning. Very busy for her on that week.

Also she cannot attend Thu and Friday afternoon function on Bridging Course.

Should be much better if it is one weak later.

Agree! Last year's bridging course was held on 19/7. My girl can't attend the afternoon course on 12/7 too. Besides, she doesn't want to attend the fitness test on 13/7 as it's the last day at her Primary School.

唔上來這邊睇都唔知已經有信,因為多數一星期check一次信箱,眞係唔該晒!
我哋都一樣撞時間要返學,但學校那邊是自願返唔返都得,又不過bridging course 這邊都可以唔上又得.
我同老公決定上bridging course,識下d新同學仔嗎! 小學那邊返到就返.
Htts 是不是要去叩門? 咁你應該都不會join bridging course吧?(wish u luck btw)
我女仲有幾個同學一齊讀SPCS,應該都會一齊報.
今年的bridging course真係早咗d,仲有個on line course要上,我哋8月會去3個星期europe旅行,到時又要帶埋ipad去! 成日都要做功課真係好煩!

既然這麼多家長有意見, 何不去Convent反映一下, 我印象中面試時她說十七或十八號的, 是什麼原因改了吧. Bridging Course就唔返, 成何體統.

I wondered if their arrangement for early bridging is to prevent girls from "knocking door at other schools" as normally interview/written tests might be held around 11-13/7.

I'm going to knock door but the successful rate should be very low

. So I will let her attend the bridging course in the hope that she can get herself familiarised with the new school campus and classmates,etc. But may need to be absent if she is offered for a place for interview by the "knocking door" school.

One more thing, it is stated on the letter that if students cannot reach the standard of HKAT, they need to attend remedial course which will commence on 18/7 to better equip themselves for F.1. I feel a bit nervous

. However, on the other hand, school is willing to arrange earlier training for girls who are below the standard which they expect.

My girl is currently studying in convent P.6. Just to clarify, we originally received the bridging course info at Mar that bridging course will be held on 7/16 -7/27, half day every day for 2 weeks. It's offered by an organization in Canada. However, the organizer advised after one week that they couldn't make it during that period. SPCS has to look for other organization to support the bridging course. I think it's too late that most of the period has been reserved by others. That's why they have to pick 7/9-7/13 at no choice. relax, 冇陰謀 :)

What do u think school life at SPCS? Are most parents rich? How about teaching staff?

but i don't want to attend the bridging course. Seems the organiser are not attractive.
And my daughter still busy in her primary school during that period. i would rather let her enjoy the final moment in her p.6

真係原來每個人都有唔同嘅想法
學校安排俾啲準中一生上嘅 bridging course
愚見應該都係幫佢哋早啲適應中學生活
會有家長覺得執二灘嘅 organiser 唔夠吸引
阿女兩年前上 bridging course 時一樣係仲返緊 p6
寫封信俾小學解釋學校唔會留難學生
反之阿女小學畢業禮撞正中學 fitness test
同老師講安排早啲 test 放人
都係正常不過嘅事
事情唔係一面倒邊樣重要啲自己決定
我就會希望個女儘快投入新環境

我唔知 bridging course 有幾 useful
上唔上可能真係 no big deal
又或者你哋仲諗緊叩門
分分鐘會轉去第二間更加心儀嘅中學未定
咁可能唔上會好啲
費時個女愛上咗 spcs 唔肯走
呵
