My daughter is 24 months old and I have some question aboutthe autistic symptom. She is always fear of new things. I have heard that thisis one of the symptoms of autism. She doesn’t like new clothes, doesn’t like tosit on potty, and afraid of Elmo on TV. Basically, she doesn’t enjoy new thingsat all and always say she is scared of things. One time when we were at astore, there were some black dots on the ground and she told me she was afraidof that and asked to be held. Should I be worried about that?
Verbally, I would say she has no problem as she talks a lotall the time. She can now speak in sentences with 5-6 words. However, shecannot distinguish “You” and “I” yet and always say “You” when she means “I”.She also learns very fast. She already knows A-Z, a-z, and counts from 1-30.
I think she does have eye contact. When there is stranger inthe same lift, she would look/stare at that person. I ask her to say Hi and shewould wave to the person. But when she knows if the stranger is a friend ofmine, she doesn’t like to get too close to the person. She needs times to warmup.
She doesn’t quite really play with other kids yet. She likesto play with her elder cousins (not really playing together, but she alwayscalls her cousins). When we go to playground with my friends who have kids withsame age, she always likes to run around by herself.
I am sorry for the long post. But I don’t know if I shouldworry about that. We just returned from oversea not too long ago and we havenever visited the Gov’t clinic here in HK. I also don’t know anything about theassessment. I would love to hear any advice here. |
