For secondary school application, yet still for kid's interest: music...
Only for kid's interest: Ski, magic, risk-taking hiking, movie club etc..
For school application, yet not kid's interest: social service, swimming, rock climbing, etc..

最好的團體活動，就是親子活動；一家遠足、宿營(未必一定要乘飛機！)、打球、運動！孩子升中後，他們未必會常常黏連父母，希望我們珍惜這個升中前的暑假！好的親子關係、肯定、陪伴、鼓勵......也是對兒女升中適應很好的支援。

Actually, I think of the opposite ......

I often remind myself that focus should not be '對升中有幫助'.
As long as time (my kid's availability) and money (my private issue) are ok, I always discuss with my kid about what activities coming next we can try.
