Thanks for your info.  I just called them, the staff there encouraged me to let my boy try private lesson as he lacks of any previous skills.  Is this really more desirable?
Besides, anyone has experience with these:  陽光乒乓球俱樂部 in Fortress Hill, and

隼星乒乓球會 in Wan Chai

幼稚園學生,初學,不建議單對單----除非他很享受一整個小時的機械人訓練---基本功的訓練就是成為一個機械人:;pppp:.
先讓他上小組,發現真的有興趣,有天份,再拜一位好師父(教練)認真學習吧.
訓練中心的人當然最希望你們報私鐘,學費貴,又不用遷就其他人,

So many thanks for all your comments.  I called one of the centers, they told me learning 1 to 1 would be more effective for young aged children.  They charge HKD280 per hr.  I still wonder should I send my boy to group lesson or private lesson.  Any comments and experience?  thanks.

This one just cut off enrolment in March. So I have to wait for next enrolment in June.  BTW, do you know if they accept children without any experience?  Is it I could choose the location for training, then they would hold training mainly in that sports center?

They have different centres in HK, KLN and NT, all in govt sports centres. No experience needed because admission is all by 抽籤

Yes, there is no restriction. Those who took the class before can also enroll again. They have exam at end of the course and students have to pass the exam in order to promote to higher level.

I played a few times with my boy, seems he's interested in table tennis.  I've found these centers:

陽光乒乓球俱樂部:  has group of upto 5 children, with 2 coaches
新港星乒乓球  :  recommend 1 to 1 as no group class for his age
乒乓世界: recommend 1 to 1 as only 1 group class for his age
許素紅乒乓球訓練中心:  has group class of upto 5 children, with 4 coaches
專業乒乓中心:  They hire coach from the mainland and has only 1 to 1 for small children

Any recommendations or experience that you could share with me?  Thanks.

我大仔學校係搵「乒x 世界」訓練校隊，感覺 ok。

其他唔清楚。

不過，我同意樓上所講，認為你個仔只係5歲，一對一可能會悶！！

建議你都係搵 d 班比佢上先，到學得一兩年後先上一對一啦。

I was also thinking of group class for him, however most said they have only 1 group class or none at all for his age, therefore they recommended private.  There was one holding group class but it last for 2 hours for 5 children with 2 coach, then I thought it would be quite waste of time if most of the thing was to wait for his own turn.

小組及私鐘各有好處，首先從幾方面考慮。1）小朋友的興趣多少。2）小朋友的專注能力。3）家長的期望，例如考小一或長遠發展的運動（要打出成績）。4）家長資源等。5）小朋友資質。

1）小朋友興趣多少，家長最清楚，像我小女，帶佢打一次波後，終日波板不離手，返到屋企對住牆打，自動自覺。
2）專注力方面，在訓練時可觀察到，有無叫累，有無聽教練講，聽完做唔做得返動作。
3）第1及第2觀察後發覺小朋友是正面的，再加家長期望及資源配合到，極力建議可打私鐘，原因是私鐘的個別教授，對小朋友的基本重作好重要，動作錯了，要改番正確資勢，要花更多時間及金錢，而私鐘對小朋友球技進步好快，當小朋友見到自己進步了，興趣自然會更多，追住要打波。以我亞女為例，K3已打贏好多3、4年級哥哥姐姐，有滿足感之餘自然搶住去學波，搶住去球館。
4）小朋友資質，要等一兩年才可知道，如果有教練上完一堂就話亞仔亞女有資質，不可盡信。
最後教練好重要，揾啱事半功倍，揾錯事倍功半，一般好嘅教練收費$320-$500之間，最好睇下教練有無徒弟係學界或公開賽得獎，一般乒總網頁可揾到資料，或去一些學界賽現場睇下，睇下D四強球員誰人坐教練席，嗰度搵教練包無壞。

Many thanks for your detail analysis.  I am not sure of his talents and interest in this sport, but he did express to me that he wanted to give it a try, as opposed to Rugby which he seldom expressed strong interest.  So I wanna let him to have a try during the summer as he has more time for different activities.  I am not particularly against group training just that if only 1 or 2 coaches handling many students then it may be not efficent in terms of time spent and skills development.
So my goal for this summer for him is to let him try a few lessons first, and in the mean time try to find a good coach / training center?  Any ideas?
