I believe quality bedtime stories is a good and efficient method to foster children reading habit. I still remembered in my kid per nursery and K1, both the schools headmasters recommended parents story telling is much better than solely rely on the expensive Education set & DVD. Thru bedtime stories, you have a lot of interactions and can raise their curiosity to learn.
Maybe you will worry about your English oral skills, but you should be bold and courteous to tell the story with confidence. Pronunciation & gramma? Forget them first! Let yourself be a role model to your kids to speak English!
I never used Hurray Readings, but I highly recommend you use the Oxford Reading Tree. It is a progressive reading series, the 1st level books don't even has words inside. The cover and it's back got parents guide to teach parent how to use the book and ask questions. The books are not hard, and it got a lot of colorful illustrations. |
