佢一拎個青瓜出尼, 我都要諗左諗先知係咩,
而我好肯定如果係我老公, 佢一定唔知係咩瓜!
當然我囡囡都唔會識啦, 佢食都冇食過~

咁我明當然要考d有難度既野先分得到高低嘛,
如果唔係個個都識晒佢點揀喎!

反而我想問係唔係個個都係送angry bird?
老師有冇問你地小朋友知唔知果隻咩尼?

我囡唔識青瓜老師都冇講番係咩尼,
但佢竟然專登話我囡知果隻係angry bird
我囡本來完全冇接觸過angry bird,
但in完青瓜still唔識, 但開口埋口都係angry bird.
激死!!!!

Having witnessed the interview in this kindergarten the past 4 years, the most special thing about this year's interview is you would have the most peaceful, quiet and stable environment established for the children in the floor where the interview rooms are.

The most concerned are always the children, not the parents which should give priority to the children over our own convenience (don't we?).  The interview is intended for the children to have a place to settle down, not be disturbed.  So the interactions with the teachers can then be most efficient.

I have been running around all days yesterday, and the special thing about yesterday is it is the interview where I have heard the least number of children crying.

Whether this met all the parents' expectation, certainly not.  But this will be the way this kindergarten is.

睇中文書呢樣, 我地係講問桌子和衣服, 唔只係講問青瓜. 若今年至去IN, 我仔應該會答到瓜或者 cucumber, 好多故事書, 包括N1 其中一本課本, 都有提過青瓜. 答唔答得出青瓜二字我就無把握了, 正如去年, 他都只係答到菜, 而唔係白菜. 番茄他倒是答對. 當老師拿出蔬果時, 當然唔止睇你識唔識答, 仲會睇下小朋友對事物有怎樣的觀察, 拿在手時有無摸下, 有無求知好奇的精神等, 表情係點都好關鍵.

而家小朋友要幾叻有幾叻, 青瓜桌子衣服大把小朋友識. 你若然話家庭背景令佢咁岩識青瓜, 即係佢同父母有一定溝通啦, 你返工有無日日同你子女傾下關於你工作的環境呢?

小學有一科常識, 好多時事題也是沒法溫習, 靠平時多看書/報, 多觀察四周事物, 咁岩佢問農作物題, 唔通我又怨自己唔係農婦, 無教阿囡咩...唉.......平日盡左力, 小朋友學到野, 到考試係咪出到正, 都有少少運氣架啦.

sorry, I didn't mean that.     I was just giving an example to try to tell parents the reasons behind asking such questions are not simply to get a right or wrong answer.  I didn't say that is the real reason (and I certainly would not disclose the real reason in a public forum).

I do agree with you that many kindergarten interviews are not designed to retrieve a standard answer.  Unfortunately this is the rationale which many parents possess so it was just a way to try to lead them back to the right track.

My experience?  Last year my daughter answered the tomato as an apple and she was accepted.

Answering it right or wrong is not the only key at all!  It is when you don't know what it is, what would you react on answering it.

Cucumber is a pretty nutritious vegetable and this is a kindergarten which promotes healthy diet, so personally I would feel it makes good sense to ask this type of questions......

I was joking with the other parent helpers that every year parents would ask if everyone receive the same gift.  They are really just by random and doesn't mean anything.  Just a gift to the children.

My bb had been to Lianliang and Precious Blood interviews and enjoyed a lot.  This time, I told her that I will bring her to school and meet with teachers and she was v excited.  After waiting in line for 45 mins and end up less than 5 mins with teacher, when the teacher said bye bye to her, I saw she was rather disappointed!  I kind of felt  sorry for dragging her to here......
After that I decided to bring her to SKH open day.  We both had lots of fun and enjoyed the rest of our day!

I think that the interview is not an aptitude test but an attitude test.

個人認為, 多人報的學校, 都好難安排到比較長的會面時間的. 之前睇過一D POST, 好似都有成over 2000人報名.

我都surprise昨天interview的時間都幾短, 因為大囡6年前都有考聖心, 當年就真係考好多野, 都有同小朋友傾計問下姓名和幾歲, 不過就另外考/玩多好多野, 又會問下家長問題....

不過, 都明白學校的難處, 而家多咗咁多小朋友報, 如果用相同的形式, 要考幾多日先可以完成呢? 家長和小朋友又要等候多久呢?

其實問咩題目, 都只係為了睇小朋友的反應和表演, 我估答案岩唔岩都應該唔係太大問題GE...

正如St Paul, 以前都考埋家長啦, 我都剛從BK知道原來已經改了interview形式, 只係見小朋友添, 家長無得入班房.

Anyway, 老師見咁多小朋友, 要從2000個中選200個小朋友都幾難, 真係都可能要有少少睇彩數, 這個年代, 我地個個小朋友都好叻的, 又點止200個叻的小朋友呀!

我都相信取錄與否唔係只係睇有無答啱哂問題咁簡單，如果個小朋友識答哂所有問題但同老師完全無眼神接觸、坐唔停...，我相信學校亦未必會收。

A not a big deal question " anyone don't have gift?"  May be i am 9am section and we leave 9:10.  Teacher is still not yet ready for angry bird gift.   wakaka

囡囡南瓜/冬瓜/節瓜/翠玉瓜/絲瓜/西瓜/蜜瓜都食過, 就係冇食過青瓜... 唉...

同你一樣, 我每次in都係同囡囡講去同老師玩,
之前in左4間, 間間唔多唔少都有d時間玩下玩具,
or in既內容係玩教具/揭下書, 佢次次都in得好開心.

但今次排得最耐, in得最快,  
同佢講走得, 佢好驚訝, feel到佢好冇癮!

Hello Ian, thanks for telling us something about the purpose of designing the interview questions. Yes, the school would like to watch the kids reaction and the knowledge on those things happen in their daily life. I am now feeling that the interview was designed with much difficult for a PN student. It's true! My girl now learn the Chinese wordings in her PN school through picture cards like 人，米，爸爸，媽媽，手，耳，眼，水果，蔬菜，等等。but unfortunately, they don't have 青瓜！egg plant, pepper, pizza, onion she knows them except cucumber. That's really want to test the parents whether or not they start to give the kids recognize the Chinese wordings through reading book. That only a k1 student can do. It's really hard for me to teach my girl (she is only 2.5 yrs old) start to reading books now because at this moment, she still can't manage a full sentence (both Eng and Chin) on asking question How come she can know 桌子，手帕，衣服 matching with 枱，手巾，衫？if some of the interview girls can point out through listening those words, then that girls must very clever!
