我的回覆則是:

我想,以普通話教學還是母語,因為縱音不同,文字是一樣
的,也沒有割去數千年來文化的底蘊,這正是以母語學思維
的一大優勢。


近日發現,現在初中中文卷中,古文理解的比例上升了,不單有課內分析內容部分,還多半多搭一兩篇同類古文,作平衡分析。課文無論範圍的廣度和深度,都較從前改進了很多,不知是否回歸後有所提升以拉近與內地距離有關?所以說,現在的中學中文一點不易

作為父母,大概都深深體會到學有時的道理?為什麼教局不鼓勵學前教育要默書串字?大概因為該階段的智力年齡不能用上太多抽象思維,強記,也只是短期記憶,幼稚園學得很辛苦的東西,到智力年齡可以的初小時,很快就追上了。

所以從前的教育政策版資深網友向來主張,學前只要培養好小朋友中英文閱讀的興趣便足以奠日後勝算。

到中學,是心較靜較易吸收如何有思維層次的時候。唸古文,是吸收,而答通識,是學運用。再一次說,可以自如運用雙語的,用何種語文學皆沒大關係。但能自如運用雙語的,生活中應有更貼身的語境,如傾向閱讀英文小說、雜誌、報章,就如李登輝主要讀日文報章一樣。若非如此,那通識以中文學可能更好。

之前已舉過我老闆一例:她是精英年代的精英學府畢業,當AO一段日子後,大幅減薪入傳媒行加辛,曾於英文報章工作,工作成就足獲克淫頓訪港也接見。但她之後在大英帝國寫的博士論文,翻譯中文報章的內容仍見錯誤,與原文對照,有些意思頗有偏離。中學生能以中文入,英文出,且能做到準確並有分析性的,大概不易吧?英中已有很多學科以英文為學習語言,如有心學,還不夠吧?有必要為語言犧牲思維層次的訓練深度嗎?(當然,深度其實冇咩用,香港夠好多人嫌《天與地》太深,睇唔明,但咁並不阻止他們賺到盤滿砵滿)

有中文中學已決定選擇至少一班學生用英語考通識。

英文教通識比較好,開始可能比較難,但呢一科本來就是中學的新學科,無論中英文教,都需要一個適應的過程,但英文教可以學到較多不同領域的詞彙,提升英文的表達能力。

I believe that students' mother tongue, interest, reading practise, etc. would much influence their strength in LS.  Hence, there's no definite choice Chi/Eng for HK students in LS exam.  And, it's quite unfair for students with different language strength to use a single language as chosen by their school.  

Anyway, I don't think that LS exam result is taken as same weight as the other main subjects while it's a compulsory subject for all students.

My kid's school chose English for DSE LS exam. Personally, I consider English is more difficult for them as they need to memorize a lot of terms which may not come across in daily life or other subjects, unless they have the habit of reading English newspaper. (This is reflected in this year's DSE exam paper that some of the English names of the political parties are quite similar that students may mix them up and thus answer wrongly. But if in Chinese, they can definitely differentiate them.) But my kid said one of the advantages for using English is that writing English is faster than Chinese.

From the admission talks of HKU and HKUST, they weigh LS same as other subjects in most of the programs. Therefore, students still need to strike a good grade in LS for university admission.

Yeah, that's true.  I bet even most of the current legislative members wouldn't get pass in LS subject!  Hope the marking scheme wouldn't be too tight & the local U entrance level is just 'reasonable' instead of same weight as other core subjects.  

Anyway, try our very best & no regret!
