But, it may change for admission in 2013-2014. In fact, the admission interview for 2011 Kindergarten class was almost the same as 2012 Reception class. I guess KCIS might have raised the standard due to ovewhelming demand

Sorry for the typo,

the admission interview for 2011 Reception class (4-5 yrs old) was almost the same as 2012 KIndergarten class (3-4 yrs old).

oh that means they apply the standard of 4-5 yrs old on 3-4 yrs old this year?

Crystalpui also said that the chance for getting in is just 20% now even interview is granted.  I remember in the previous years, the percentage were higher

I went to their Chinese New Year Concert today. There are more Western parents and non-Chinese speaking parents than my expectations. Students sang the CNY songs in Mandarin. I notice that they have three groups/classes of P1. One of them comprises of many Western and Indian. The Mandarin standard of the other two groups is much higher than the aforesaid group. I am not sure whether KCIS starts to stream students in different levels of Chinese abilities beginning P1.

我覺得個 logic 應該係:
priority group --> in 先 --> admitted --> parent 揀 am/pm --> 多數揀am --> 冇咩位凈(or 得番pm 位) -->遲in 既group會收得緊d因為得番好少位

KCIS evolves from having no interview and first-come-first-serve (in the past) to interview + priority group/semi-first-come-first-serve (this year). I think KCIS will follow the footsteps of competitive IS for being more selective in admitting students. So, it is better to apply other schools as backup. My son got several other offers.

KCIS football team won the recent trophy.

From KCIS newsletter, "Congratulations to our Football team, who last weekend at Chinese International School beat several other International School Footbal teams to win the Braemar Hill Tournament Cup!  Thanks to our two ‘coaches’ Mr. King and Mr. Mason, for working so hard with our students, from P5 and P6."

Does anyone know if the school bus serves the Mid-Levels area?  Usually, when would the school bus pick up the kids in this area for its PM class?  I would check with the school after CNY, but would be grateful if anyone has some info to share in the meantime.  
Also, do the kids have an opportunity to use the outdoor playground, since I notice that the playground is usually parked with school buses when I visit the school?

As for outdoor playground, unfortunately the buses are staying there most of time. From my observation, kids usually play at the cover playground and sometimes at the roof of the building.

The school's lower campus (ie Ching Wah street) also has a school hall for their PE sessions . I heard that the upper campus (baemer hill) has built a new sports hall

Thanks both for sharing.  Do KCIS kinder / reception kids mostly stay with the primary school?  Am I correct that they will be automatically promoted to the primary section?  If the kids are not joining the primary schools, where do they usually go?  Also, Littheho, is the newsletter (mentioned in your previous posts) publicly available?  I don't seem to find the relevant links.  Thanks again for your time.  Happy CNY.
