I just transfer from KCS am to KCIS, in my opinion, don't change.  I really like KCS more than KCIS, you can use those $ to find better english class, 100% you can learn more than you study in KCIS, also, you don't have mandarin anymore, or I should says just simple mandarin should will learn.

點評

stepyau  I think the best part of KCIS to me is the through-train assurance. The Mandarin standard will never on par with that of local KCS.  發表於 12-10-4 10:01

Depend on what you are looking for. I have my son study in KCS till end of K2, and transferred him to KCIS this year (P1=local K3). So far I am quite pleased, as my son's mandarin doesn't deteriorate (we are mandanrin speaking family), but his English has improved a lot. Of course the problem with KCIS is mostly the facility, but the fee is low compared with other schools. In my view KCIS offered me a balance between Mandarin and English, between too much homework and no homework. Students are encouraged to be disciplined, which suits my son very well.

For KCS, my expereince is that it's very organized (probably more organized than KCIS in a way), so you don't really feel the chaos of 35-40kids/class. The learning is activity based, but the level of activity lies in the class teacher. My son is very blessed to have a passionate class teacher. However, considering the homework load and the amount of English exposure, we tranferred him to KCIS.

I think if u just consider English as the sole criteria for choosing is.  You can  consider putting your kid to local English primary school as alternative

There is no huge difference between KCIS and other IS in terms of teaching method and teacher’s quality.

School successfully trains kids to be independent.  Don’t think teacher is not caring if teacher don’t call you and give you a report every day.  Parent can make use of the blue book to communicate with class teacher.  I got response in the past.  This way doesn’t work unless one couldn’t communicate well in English with class teacher.

School provides balanced education based on British National Curriculum but not only focuses on Mandarin or English.  If one’s expectation is not match up, it’s worth thinking twice before admission.

My daughter is in KCIS K1.  She enjoys going to school very much.  I found that the teacher is very caring too.  She starts to sing Mandarin songs at home (we don't speak any Mandarin at home) and I'm very impressed.
