If you are really concerned about your kid's English level and her Chinese level doesn't bother you at all, then you could try GSIS (English stream).  The Germans are in general very disciplined.

In theory, yes.  In practice, not necessarily so and I did come across cases refuting your belief.  As I said, a lot depends on how much reading the kids do after school.  一分耕耘, 一分收穫.

For the past couple of years, SIS has not been giving priority to siblings anymore because of the great no. of applicants. My son had to go through a 2nd interview before he got into PY1. Both my kids studied in ordinary local kindergarten in K1. Nowadays, I'm sure parents would better equip their kids for the interview. Don't worry, I'm sure your younger one still stand a chance.

I learnt about the no. of applicants from a chat with Helena (the admission secretary) recently.

The current seat is only 100 ( from class directory) not 120.

She is K1 in Victoria now. Good english & active. She applied SIS PY1. We are chinese family.

120 places for 4000 kids, so exciting !Anyone has hint to win the game ?

I stand corrected as to the total no.of seats. There may be a small variation because Singaporeans come and go.

I heard SIS primary school has much more homework than other international schools because it follows Singapore curriculum. The workload is similar to HK local primary schools, is that true?

What is the average number of homework everyday for different grades in SIS primary school?

初小其實功課一點都不多. 有時2樣, 有時無. 15分鐘都完成. 而且學校好鼓勵睇書. 我小朋友每日可以睇2至3本書. 其餘時間可以學琴及游水, 及自己玩. 不用補習! 聽說去到小三, 功課會深, 尤其科學及數學. 我們都覺得呢間係一間好全面的學校, 著重學業之餘亦train小朋友presentation. 即係唔開口都唔得...

最近仲有國畫及功夫學. 係課堂之一. 我小朋友好鍾意返學...每年3, 4月左右有Open Day. 親身了解吓, 他們的功課及圖畫.
