As far as I know, the workload on the students will be built up each year. In the first two years, the students will be taught to learn the learning skills and examination answering techniques whcih are quite different from the primary schools. Apart from this, the homework will be centered around a variety of questions (some may be open-ended ones) instead of simple drilling on exercises as in primary schools. The serious learners will make use of the spare time to read more books on different topics as required by Liberal Studies in the upper forms. The first two years are really adaptation years. However, S3 is a tough year as most students are working really hard to fight for a place in the study groups of their interest in S4. If a student can be "hea" in S3 and gets into one of the highly competitive study groups in S4, he must be a very smart one. Otherwise he will fall into a study group he may not like. From S4 onwards, their school life becomes tougher and tougher each year.
