根本個袋入面果d資料,百分之九十九都可以放上佢自己個網俾人閱覽,佢塞咁多野俾我地唯一用意就係驚我地話佢報名費貴,得兩梳蕉俾番我地唔好睇咁解.....唉,咁唔環保何苦呢?

Complaining $150 application fee is expensive but does not appreciate $1500 cheaper monthly school fee (whcih is one of the cheapest DSS in HK), what kind of logic is that?
In facat I find $150 very worthwhile.  If you think these information are not useful for your application it just prove that you dont care about applying so you should not spend the $150 at the first place, period.  It is much better than some "famous" school who needs you to queue for 1-2 hours suffering from sunburn and rain for the admission seminar, and ends up telling you the school bus fare and how many bus route they have, and those information that you can get from the website, but knowing very little about the teaching philosphy and vision of the school.  Even if the school pay me to attend I will not want to waste my time again.....

Please pay attention to what I said, the "cheap" school fee of YW is one thing, that $150 application fee is another thing, please don't mix up the two and tell me that $150 is worthwhile.

What's more, I am saying that 99% of the printed material contained in the so-called "eco-friendly" bag is a waste of resource, even that "eco-friendly" bag ITSELF! Why not post those info on the school website for public viewing? Would it make any difference? Should we teach our children to waste than to save earth's resource?

Haha... I don't think they would force you to take the printed materials and DVD.  Indeed, I told them that I read them before and got a DVD from last year application for my elder son so I don't want to waste them.  The staff just smiled to me and took them back.

"我要你個環保袋同DVD把鬼咩?"  

Well, my elder son likes the bag and the DVD very much He found the info contained in the printed materials and the DVD very interesting as well.

香港人的投訴文化真係利害。
明明係一間直資學校，報名與否全在家長手上。覺得報名費貴，又覺得學校唔好絕對可以完全不理，大把其他直資名校可以選擇。又要報，又要鬧，究竟是甚麼心態呢？:D

A very prestigious boys' school required the applicants to queue up and wait outdoors (i.e. outside the school's campus) without any cover, so parents and their children had to "enjoy" bright sunshine and/or heavy rain, car exhaust, etc., while waiting for their children's turn to be interviewed.

I'd rather pay $150 than have my child getting treated this way.

You are right.  It is actually "much more" than worthwhile, for as cheap as $150 you can get so many information from the school.  Of course it is for people who are serious about selecting an appropriate school for their children.  

BTW I dont think any school would want to spend a lot of money for the server space to put up all these multimedia video on their website.

1. The eco-bag is reusable.

2. Whether the materials inside the bag are useful to you or not depends on how you use them.

3. Not all people like to watch movies on the computer, including myself.  Watching a DVD on a TV set is much more comfortable and the whole family can watch it together.

Please also note that the materials in the eco-bag were distributed during the admission seminar, not when you submitted your application.  Accordingly, you would not need to pay for the materials if you decided not to apply.  You may criticise that it was not eco-friendly, but saying that the cost is included in the application fee is irrelevant so far as the application is concerned.

Talking about this matter you will also remember on the 1st interview day, even this "famous" school has a huge campus they just wont let you wait inside the school for the kids to finish the interview, you actually need to leave the school and I dont know...wander on the street for like another 1 hour or so?

In contrast YW's principal arrange another presentation for the waiting parent!!  This is really a surprise and I would say this is a perfect arrangement for a nervous parent waiting.  Can you imagine how many sessions the principal need to do? I think without heart and passion this will never happen.  This is not gimmick this is a great effort.

其實好多間小學,在小朋友面試時都安排得幾好,都好照顧家長,唯獨果間啫.......。

只要有幸interview成功，等多幾多個鐘又有乜所謂？呢啲就係名氣！

況且apply前唔多唔少都會做咗資料搜集，去聽talk只係真人發聲啫。

無錯，舊年考左八間，係呢間o既安排係咁，不過亦有另一d學校，有另一d問題，不過費事離題萬丈，就此打住。

最好開個topic "面試騎呢野分享"，集中d列出各校安排上o既缺失，等d家長容易搵d。

唔係淨係時間問題 (大部份家長都會預早去到學校，點都要等)，而係不必要地要家長同孩子受苦，呢d野只要肯用心d安排，完全可以避免。

If the cost of the materials does not come from the application fee, where does the money come from?   The school just pre-paid the cost and reimbursed it from the application fee.  Of course, apply or not is my choice but most of the time, it is not until you complete the whole procedure before you know the deficiency of the school.
