  To all 2005-06 K1 Parents & SJC Staff,

I'm one of the parents who got the 2005-06 K1 placement for my kid.  In fact I've paid the deposit for reservation eventhough SJC charged more than the Government's instruction.  I really don't care SJC adminstration coz' I think we need to pay anyway if my kid studies in SJC.  However, after reviewing some unfavorable comment in BK regarding the SJC, I'm quite hesitate about it.  Could some existing SJC parents or SJC staff can really help to resolve my BIG concerns below:-

1. I really love its Eng-teaching mode -- is it really conducted in Eng all the time, of course except Chinese/ Mandarin
2. Since the tuition fee c.f. St-Cat/ Kent is relatively higher around $1000 - 2000/ mth, is SJC really got sufficient staff to guide our kid.
3. There's NO open day for parents to get a detailed understanding of the school, e.g. 2005-06 tuition fee/Misc Fee/ # of teachers/ #of classes / # of students for 05-06 K1 at least.
4. Since quite a lot of unfavourable rumor posted, can SJC principal hold a 05-06 K1 parent day to debrief a lot more about your SJC.
5. Any statistics on its past kinder graduate's Primary school status (other than SJC Primary)?

1. I really rank your college as our 1st 3 choices, I feel a bit uncomfortable without any transparency cos' we don't want to fortfeit our choice of SJC due to uncertainty.  Kindly pls feedback or even put into action to notify our parents thru any means for the above, like here, mail, open day, 05-06 K1 parent's Day, etc.

         Please be remind that SJC should paid for 12 months but SC only paid 10 months.  So you need to calculate for 1 year.  The difference is not so great.  Please don't misunderstand.

Glad to hear additional comments from u 2.  

Frankly speaking, money is one of the crucial consideration, I don't really mind if any loss from my investment, eg house, stock.  However, I won't bet on my lovely kid who is far more important than any of our wealth except my second-half, thus better understanding of those unfavorable experience from other moms would lead me to re-consider again & again. Unless there's some official disclosure of my concern from SJC, I'm very much reluctant to make a bet.  In conclusion to all valuable comments from other moms, it's really good in English, but lacks others (safety issue, food, headcount, spacious).  In response to Cher_mummy, if including the Misc expenses (talking about $2200x2 (04K1), $3100x2 (04K2&K3) ((since we still haven't got the latest no. from SJC for 05-06 K1) , we really invest a lot more than in ST-SC/ Kent, that's the point we may have such a higher expectation as well as demand for a lot more from SJC.  thx

Do you get the admission from SJC, SC & Kentville?  And what's your choice ?????  Can you let me know or PM to me because I got the admission from SJC and Kentville.  I also hear a lot of negative news of SJC in BK.  Waiting for your reply.  Thanks.

luckily, 3.  But I'll register Kent tomorrow only but not SC, as u can read more & more about Kent & SC in the chatroom that: other than English Native teacher, any other niche in parent's perspective? we can't find so far.  I don't think kids have such a strong preference in these 2 (SC&KENT), the only thing is parent's mind of Eng preference.  Just like my kid, only 2Yr+2 she also can express herself in NICAM, of course full chinese & full eng (like "May I have food please; the key is used to open the door, etc)  I think it really rely on family training so far +  VCD of eng programs daytime.  My hubby says Eng mostly & I speak cantonese.  If my kid talks to my hubby in cantonese, he pretends not understand & my kid will then change to Eng.   Also, so far Kent gives us a lot of attributes which fit our wish & tie with local (Famous) P1 mode.  So, if I pick only Eng is the only attribute to be considered, I'll pick SJC eventally.  But if all-rounded & concerning about other issue (which is also important to us at least) like transparency, safety, food, teacher #, etc) I'll pick Kent.  As I paid SJC already, I'll pay Kent also by tomorrow, without further complicating our decision, I'm not going to register SC further.  Anyway, we need to finalize it anyway one day, why don't we make earlier

I think some parents did not register so they called some replacement for 2nd round interview.

I just called to SJC's kinder.  The lady said there is no 2nd round interview.  The news of 2nd round interview from what rumour? any news from SJC now?  please let us know coz I've registered there for my son.

Dear dorame,

if u regularly check SJC website, u will find the 2nd round "waitlist" schedule (for new applicants in 2nd round, but not recall the waitlist/reject list from 1st round).  Maybe SJC staff is right, coz' it should also be regarded as 1st round interview for the 2nd round applicants.
