| 1) As SPC has its own kindergarten, it is generally believed that places available for outsiders are limited. (2)SPC does not officially invite primary-one applications, so there are no SPC primary-one application forms. (3) However, you can make a primary-one application to it virtually at any time. I think you can do it some time this September. (4) Your application papers should be delivered to the SPC campus (Primary Section) in a sealed envelope marked "Primary-One Application", during school hours on a day in this September. You can just walk in without first making any appointment.(5) Your application papers can include a self-made application form - you can model your application form on some other school's primary application form. Remember to stick your daughter's best photo to this form's top right-hand corner. As SPC is a catholic school, you should mention it in this form if you, your spouse or your daughter is a catholic. SPC may contact you by telephone so don't forget to provide you and your spouse's mobile numbers in this form. (6) Your application papers can of course include a portfolio. At any time before and after the interview (if any) you can submit additional papers to SPC by post. (7) In the sealed envelope you should put in 2 self-addressed and stamped envelopes. (8) It is said you have to be patient with your SPC primary-one application - in all likelihood they won't respond to it until Jan/Feb 2012. But if and when they respond to you, you may be asked to bring your daughter to their campus for an interview, within just a few days of their call. They do not interview parents so your daughter will have to go in by herself. You will be asked to fill out a form, and pay an application fee of $30 (or $50?) in cash. You will be attended to by a teacher/officer of the school who, some people suspect, is there to observe the parents. (9) I don't know too much about what may happen during the interview inside the Headmistress's room. On one occasion it was a group interview; each child was asked whether she had already received offers from other primary schools and, if so, what schools they were; why the child would like to study in SPC. So it could be quite tough inside and the child should be well prepared for it ! (10) SPC is said to be very efficient as from the day they call you for an interview - if your child is picked you are likely to receive a call within just a few days after the interview (there will be only 1 interview), inviting you to go to their campus to do registration and pay a place-retention fee. |
