我曾經都有樓主的煩惱.現在仍探索當中.
小朋友學英文,應該跟學母語是一樣,好像bb期時,有個傻人不停在自問自答,指手晝腳,幾個月后,他見到這個傻婆就叫媽媽,傻佬就叫爸爸.紅色可食的叫果果,放在地上玩的叫車車,放東西入口叫食食.......
所以最理想是找個傻外籍家庭老師,跟他自問自答,指手晝腳,好像bb期在生活中學聽....學講.....學讀.....學寫.
即一般生說的聽講讀寫.勿未學行先學走.
外籍家庭老師我就請不起,所以都是找些英語palygroup,著重遊戲,hea就最好,這是我
對k2前的看法.k3后最好可以到達讀寫階段啦!

回想起, 我既囝囝約K3開始就跟外籍老師上堂,另有参加窩打老道一間補習社辦既外籍老教(她來自英國)既黏土班, 对手指肌肉和大腦幫助很大, 囝囝一邊學一邊模仿Miss既發音咬字, 作品又精緻又吸引, 但不知她是否仍在這補習社, 献醜講一句, 我仔仔中二啦,佢既英文口音發音都非常準,非常流利. 佢係升中面试中以英文優勝突圍而出,而被收錄. 英文基楚打得好, 佢整個小學英文科都不用我操心.

見到呢個TOPIC又有感而發:
我O係中六O既時候上過一個IPA (PHONETICS) O既COURSES, 6堂咖啫, 但我畢生受用, 我本身英文都叫OK啦, 會考有A O既, 但只係GRAMMAR同作文上好, ORAL ENGLISH自知唔算太好, 上左呢個COURSE我就明白講英文O既法門, 好多就算HK高官, 講英文我會話佢係流利=快, 但只係港式英文, 外國人聽O係黎應該同我地聽日本/韓國人講英文差唔多。
我想講我係"土炮"冇去過外國讀書, 但我今時今日都有唔少人問我係咪O係英國讀過書。呢個COURSE幫左我唔少。我諗學任何野都應該有D技巧野, 呢個COURSE真係教到我技巧。
而家都仲有得讀叫個COURSE, 大家都可以考慮下, IPA, DEREK KWOK主講。
講遠左, 講返小朋友先, DEREK KWOK 而家多左個班係PARENTS WORKSHOP, 今次仲少, 得2堂咖啫, 對於我教小朋友都有啟發, 最勁O既係DEREK個仔, 嘩, 英文NATIVE到不得了。我明白好多家長都講PHONICS, 但唔知有冇人知PHONICS 其實比較適合英語為母語O既小朋友。我用廣東話同個女溝通O既, 我諗我會跟DEREK果套MODIFY DD, 就係PHONETICS 為主, PHONICS 為副。

I really want to know, how to teach child English if we use Cantonese to communicate daily. We both are not fluent in speaking English, manage to talk to foreigners but when speaking all in English daily we may sometimes find difficult. The child is taken care by grandmothers in daytime, so Cantonese is the only media for them.

We both find quite desperate when teaching my son with better English. He is 4 years old and he is quite good in vocabulary. But what comes to speaking English, he simply couldn't understand and even he understands what you are asking, he usually could just give a very simple yes/no answer. Reviewed the story yesterday, then he can simply forget almost everything tomorrow.

Playgroup seems cannot help much. I don't know if the playgroup teacher is not good enough, or it is very common that all playgroup teacher is simply expecting the parents give more support rather than relying on what is learnt in 1-hour Playgroup.

I can see the classmates around him, they can communicate quite well in English, either to their maids or to their parents. It seems we are quite behind but what can we do to help him catch up now?

Should we do more? Says more intensive English speaking to him, more intensive English tutors for him?
