Thanks for the information.  It is good for people not in PC yet to know about this!

However, I guess I understand what you mean concerning those who cannot return.  As I remember hearing that last year, quite a large number of primary school students didn't return.

Sorry I think I need to correct my message, it shouldn't be last year (obviously forget this is 2011 already!), so should be the year before.

I cannot remember exactly the number since I think I heard it about one year ago......  But the reason why I said it is a large number is because it shocked me quite hard after hearing the number.  Definitely higher than my normal estimation of around 20%...  I think it was a number around 100.  But honestly, it can be just a one year thing for that particular year.

我都係培小家長,有D擔心小朋友升中,所以多口問吓!唔好意思,佔左版位,離晒題!

個人小小分享:培幼真係好好,依家亦比以前深左,不過唔係prepare你出去考小學,咁大家就自己諗清楚自己想點,你小朋友咁細,好難估佢係邊類型,依個階段我覺得父母覺得安心就係正確選擇!

培幼有學卷,非常低讀!培小今年係$3050一個月,一年交十期,依條數都要諗諗,Good luck to all of you!

No, those should be mainly band 1 students who head to other good schools as mentioned earlier.

Agree with you that I also should keep this short since it may be getting outside of the topic.

Although my daughter didn't attend PC at the end, but I truly agree with you that PC is a very good kindergarten and primary school.  So, it is an excellent choice for the first 9 years of school.

Unfortunately, the reality is cruel to the secondary section.  Being a CMI does put them into difficult position  so many parents of the good students would seek way out to other EMI schools.  I respect highly for the school to maintain their tradition, a lot of time it can just be parents mis-understanding of the school only.  As far as I know, PC is using English textbooks but taught in Cantonese only.  Actually many schools do that in the past and I personally find no issues with that.

Hope there can be more parents who treasure and respect this tradition.

多謝各位的分享, 你唔識直接講, 你地真係帶出左我的關心/矛盾所在....

我當初幫個仔報培正, 係鍾意佢地的校風佳, 一條龍, 多人報即係好野....但現在我又想到9年後升培中, 但如果中學部只屬「中等」表現, 咁我以6年的小學學費去接駁中學就變得唔值得了....即是$就花了, 到頭來還要替小朋友張羅搵更好的中學(當然不是指果D拔X/ ST 乜果D咁高檔, 部份地區學校的BAND 1也好好 ).....如果最後只係直升番一間普通水準中學(指培中) 咁我幫個仔報是但一間津小已可以啦......6年的學費不是野少, (一年當3萬, 6年即18萬) , 我可將這筆$給他補習/上興趣班都好吧!

其實cottonbb的想法我也曾經諗過！就是考津小慳番d錢！但是,真的要睇你對自己同小朋友有幾大信心了！如讀得叻，當然讀邊間都好，但是在悉心教導下，力不從心的大有人在! 所以有培中back up 也很好呢!
而且，現在考小學比考幼稚園更難！雖然普通津校都可讀得好叻，但是要睇下你介不介意津校的學生質素差距比較大！因為始終是攪珠, 各類學生都有！小朋友很容易受同學影響呢! 但私校及直資的學生均經過篩選，希望學習氣氛及風氣會好一點呢！

Honestly, although it may sound costly, but I would say choosing a one-dragon school is more because of 校風佳, rather than good academic result.  No schools can guarantee your children will have academic excellence.  Many things just happen behind the scene where parents may not be notice only.  Often time students who fall behind are going to be asked to repeat or leave school.  Simple as that.  So, the academic result are somehow meaningless as the efforts at the end, are needed to be paid by the parents to help or your kids are smart by themselves.  Then they will have good result anywhere.  What you really should look for is a school that is 校風佳.  This is really being too under-rated nowadays (or may be I have a higher standard).  Anyway, I have no doubts PC is in my recommended list of schools which fall into this category.

The tread has bought me back to 6 years ago, while we made up our mind to let our elder son give up the offer to PC Primary School after graudating from PC kindergarten.

Admittedly, compare to SC and KV which are more focus on their academic results, please not to expect too much academically for PC kindergarten. Anyway, we think that children should enjoy their childhood at pre-primary stage.

As both of my husband and I are not civil servants, we decided to send our child to a government-aided primary school so that we need not pay for the school fee and be able to save more money for the future .

Now, my son is in primary 5 and he does well in his studies. Definitely that he can go to band one secondary school if he keeps on doing well. Frankly, probably the band one school will be better than PC secondary school.

This is our choice and the way we have paved for our child. Many parents were astonished to our decision to leave such a good school like PC, but even until now, we still think that we make the right decision for our son.

Now, it's the turn for my younger daughter and we chose a kindergarten with voucher redemption but we did not apply for PC anymore.

By the way, still wanna say that PC is a good kindergarten and the teachers are nice indeed. Good luck to you all!

我的情況係我地係  civil servants, 我個仔又考到KV, 身邊KV的家長, 個個又係有讚無彈.....真係十五十六.....所以有時諗PC唔收仲唔駛煩......如果收左真係R頭, 所以而家想問定多D資料比較定啫最怕$就洗左, 但最後「虎頭蛇尾」, 到時仲要周圍撲去考其他BAND 1學校....(當然個仔的能力唔知得唔得, 不過,有邊個父母會一早認定輸先WOR)...但PC 又幾乎可保障9年都讀得開開心心, 少D壓力....唉....兩難......

雖然政府有津貼, 自己都要出$+校車$, 津貼都要計稅....所以負擔也不少, 就算讀KV, 我都係想先為個仔考津小, 直資/私校做後備

類似培正這些一條龍學校, 幼稚園和小學是一個延續的學習旅程. 除非很喜歡培正的幼稚園, 若無意讀其小學, 實在無必要考培正幼稚園.
如果有一間學校可以做到品德與學術兩者并重當然最好... 但即使有也很難考進吧?!
明白自己小朋友的資質, 希望他對學校有歸屬感, 更希望學校注重性情和品德的培育, 學術反而是次要. 我相信將來要在競爭激烈的社會中生存, 性格比成績更有幫助.
