媽咪一起來推薦適合小朋友看的英文書籍

其實睇小說，識70%生字已夠，好多時都可以從上文下理估到個意思。睇唔睇書都好視乎小朋友興趣。我大囝英文麻麻地，逼下逼下佢睇書，佢越來越喜歡。細囝英文好，但逼唔到佢睇書，本本都話悶，唔鍾意。

Yes, this book series is suitable for daily reading and writing practice for P.1 students (i.e. after reading, ask your kid to write a few lines of comments).

My son is 6 years old too and he likes "Magic Tree House Merlin Missions".  These stories are more attractive.  Besides, you could also try the books written by Roald Dahl.

Thanks your comment, I will check the books written by  Roald Dahl.  

I just bought the Magic Tree House #1 to 28 for his coming P1 school life.  If he interested, will continue the #29...  It may be too difficult for him to jump start to Merlin Mission.  Thanks.

Ocwc, have you let your kid tried reading the Magic Tree House stories before buying?

I also bought a whole yet when my boy was in P1, turned out he disliked the stories and would not read them!

You can borrow a copy from the library and see if your kid likes it first.

Just show to him, cannot confirm he like it or not.  One of the main purpose is to play the audio book with the book itself.  

My son read the Oxford Reading Tree picture to understand the story first.  Next he will listen the Audio CD came with the book (2 or 3) times to fully understand the story.  Finally, He will read for us as our teacher, he likes this method and very successful.  We target to finish ORT Stage 8/9 by end of this summer.  Treetop has no audio CD, so we need to switch to other series.  

Meantime, we try the same method for magic tree house (except not enough picture). And hope he can learn more words (with listening) start from book#1, and train him to read more by himself in P1 school life.

You can try the Kindle ebook by Amazon in case you can't find the good audio CD + book.  The built-in voice function is excellent, which voice quality is close to the human voice.  I tried it and found it fully satisfy.  You just send the text file to Kindle and let it play for it. The built in dictionary is good enough for kids. This would be alternative way to get the audio function for any good english book title.  

I compared the Ipad, many app. with Kindle, the voice quality from Kindle book was the best of best.

我小朋友睇書係當relax, 又唔一定只睇好厚的書, 基本上任何英文書(買得係屋企)佢都會番睇又番睇, 佢睇開某作者d書,就會追下去, 好似R.L. Stine, 係多產量的作家, 我小朋友由小二至小三時睇了差不多150多本, 我大部分都有買, 而家久不久都會拿來番睇, A to Z Mysteries, Nancy Drew, Dav Pilkey, Andy Griffiths, Anthony Horowitz, Stephen Hawking, Tony Abbott, Roald Dahl 就係初小時睇....而家最迷Erin Hunter套Warrior & Darren Shan既Demonata.    單係Demonata series起碼睇了3-4次, 所以唔係真係一年睇6-7百本不同的書, 係好多會有相同, 總之除了追開的書外, 每日都會隨手拿1-2本書番睇, 早幾日仲拿d Bionicle & Captain Underpants來睇.

我估未必關D字深唔深, 反而係本書內容是否吸引. 因為你囝囝已睇過唔少英文書.
我大囝係學校有讀書計劃, 但佢最近同我講, 佢故意好慢咁睇現有的一本書, 因為睇完呢本書, 佢就無書啱睇. 讀書計劃裏的書, 大部份都係神神怪怪的故事, 佢好驚呢D故事, 唔肯睇, 驚會發惡夢.
細囝就投訴故事書好無聊.
佢地最鍾意睇既書係Pokemon的guide book.
要搵啱佢地口味的書真不容易! 我自己去睇書好過了 :)
