想讀LAW，高中應選邊科？

選理科physics, chem, bio可以嗎?

讀法律，高中讀甚麼也可以，因為最重要是英文．
法律科最基本要求係英文，其次係邏輯．英文公開考試沒有A 起碼都要B，但其他科都要有返咁上下，如果其他科全C，機會應該都幾低．

The most important subject is English. Chinese Language weights equal to other subjects.

Common law involves lots of cases which are in fact history.

I met a tutor in Stanford University 4.5 years ago, his first and second degree are in Maths, but his Phd in Law. I asked him why he switched to Law and his English must be as good as his Maths.

His answer is enlightening to me.

When we seek for legal advice, we must face some problems. if the lawyer not creative, he follow the cases and similar arguement. so the result is predictable.

If you have new view points and dimensions, will turn the case favour you. He treats Law as Creative Problem Solving and not language exercise.

Me too originally. but he taught Maths in summer school and was doing Phd in Law.

A business friend of mine, HKU Dental BSc, top US university in MSc in Materials and Phd in Law specialised in Medcial Regulation and became Chair Professor in the top US university. Very successful academia coverted business man.

Are you sure the guy you at Stanford mentioned "PhD in Law" and not "Juris Doctor"?

Sorry, I don't know.

I asked him what's his research area in PhD, his answer was "Law". I didn't follow up on that but shifted the focus to ask him what's the relationship between Maths and Law.

of course it is important to have good language skills especially English, otherwise one would have difficulty in understanding the judges' reasoning when reading the cases.
but law is very different from the subjects in secondary school, so it doesnt matter whether you do science subjects or not.

you can choose phy chem bio,
you can choose any subject,
but be careful whether your child can handle the science subject,
because it is more difficult when it compared with the commerce subject,
u can get into the law programme as long as u have a good public exam result, no matter of your subject,
together with good englsih grade, it means A or B in UE ( ALEVEL) and should be 5* in HKDSE

Currently LLB in HK takes 4 years. Under 334, it is likely to be maintained as 4 years.
