從本地小學轉讀國際學校?

請分享一下如何重新安排課外活動和如何幫小朋友適應新校?

小朋友幾大呀? 我都想同仔仔轉讀國際學校,
但佢已經小六了, 如果中一轉, 唔知適應到嗎?

P3 啦, 覺得傳統實在太浪費時間了, 付出和收穫完全不成正比, 考試完了, 休息一星期, 又是新的戰鬥, 讀書, 很長遠的事, 為何大家都連笑的時間都沒有, 好趕好趕, 一星期有七日, 但有十幾科要溫, 學校又唔係好教, 不如讀DISTANCE LEARNING 好過啦, 背住個名校名又如何?英文普通話都說得不好, 課外書又無時間睇, 每日如是!

我諗一時一刻係唔會好習慣, 但想到讀IS的活動教學方式小朋友開心左, 就應該會開心D, 但語言會影響學習, 不竟, 英文都是要浸的, 不踏出第一步, 又點知得唔得呢?

如果能力負担得到,讀 IS全家都舒服好多,使乜同人一齊顛,用多Ｄ時間係功課以外陪住小朋友成長,唔駛剩係督住佢做完功課、温完書未、測驗考試幾多分等等。放假要真係放假,唔係要做幾十樣補充練習。
不過長遠來看要考慮小朋友嘅中文程度足唔足夠應付日後嘅需要,數學同英文寫作方需唔需要係外面幫補吓,同埋揀Ｄ啱日後升大學嘅學制去讀,總之要自己話事同安排。

Yes, fully agree.  I didn't join the central allocation because I don't want my child to waste time in preparing for exams and tests.  I have chosen a DSS which advocates non-traditional teaching style.  After three months of school experience, I found that it put much emphasis on assessment and relys much on parents in preparing their child for exams.  The learning is not enjoyable.  We have to spend a week for preparing Chinese dictation and weekends in preparing for the first assessment!  We don't have the time to read books and join cultural activities during weekends!  International school may be the only choice for getting 'enjoyable learning' environment.  However, I will feel sad if my child doesn't learn Chinese well.  I am also struggling for whether changing to IS or not....

To certain extent, your kid could enjoy a comparable easy life during his childhood.  However, home learning and dictations (especially for chinese) are still existing!  Parents should also pay attention to their kids' learning in school and facilitate them to explore.
And, beware, the system of IB is not an easy one.  Tons of home works and reading are waiting for them!

Hi, Everyone,

Long time no talk.  I come back la..

Since my last reply on 6th Dec, I spent 50% of time on my son's school exam, another 50% of time on International School's interview, he attended local school 操卷班and also International School's English booster lesson. Very busy!

At the end, my son got the offer. God blessings, we are escaped!  

My son will start his new school in the coming January.

My son will go to another IS not Yew Chung as they are full house at this moment.

其實我都有唸過同亞仔轉國際學校,佢p.4讀緊個間每星期唔係默書就測驗,一星期7日都係溫習及補習,見佢都讀得好辛苦,但到頭來都係唔合格...,其實係想佢讀國際學校可以練好d英文,但最大原因係我地兩公婆都英文麻麻地,請問有冇媽咪可以比d意見及學校選擇!!!Thanks!!!

其實轉左 IS, 就很難再由 IS 轉回傳統學校,
你還要考慮將來是否會送仔仔出國讀U 呢 ?
如果可以的話, IS 是一個好選擇 !
我仔仔已P6了, 情況同你小兒差不多, 我都在考慮中..

IS 的收生情況很困難, 尢其高年級才轉, 要做決定, 必須盡早.

還有, 小朋友對英文的興趣都很重要, 如他們對英文不大興趣, 就可能不太適合了.

如要撰IS, 除了香港, 中國的IS也是很不錯的撰擇.

明白 ! 仔仔中文同普通話真是很差, 完全沒有興趣,所以中國的IS不會考慮,他英文OK 和希望可以去美國升學,  所以才會有個想法

The best time to change to IS would be Year 7 (11 yrs old) or Year 9 (13 yrs old) as a fair few IS students would go to boarding schools at that age therefore releasing more places.

It really shouldn't be a problem.
Many local school students go directly to UK boarding schools at that age & most adapt very well.
Moving to international schools in Hong Kong is a much smaller step in comparison!
