Last year, my son was asked to listen to a story (from tape recording, I think).  After the story, the principal asked him questions in the story.  

He was also asked to sort  a large number of pencil sharpeners (of different shapes, size, colors) into 4 categories and explain his reasons the sorting.  After finishing, the principal asked him to sort again the same set of pencil sharpeners into around 6-8 categories (the more category he can sort into the better would be I think) and explain the classification logic.  I think there's no right or wrong answer, but it requires both creativity and logical thinking, and presentation skills.

I think the most important point is that your son could show the qualities that the school is looking for - confidence is one of them.
