ESF P1 Age?!

My child was born in 2005.

According to the ESF's website, my girl will be in year 2 for the coming 2011-2012 school year (for all kids born in 2006).

Is it just ESF or all international schools?

That's for most international school.  Many international school have 2 years kindergarten or 1 year reception.  Grade 1 is usually 5 years old.

But of course, it's safest to check the corresponding Grade according to your child's birth year for each of your desired school.

It is not for all international school. Each school has their own policy.

My friend's boy was born in Sep 2005 and Renaissance College  has accepted his application for Year 1 in the 2011-2012 school year while Shatin Junior will only put him on Year 2 waiting list.
Kingston International School counts the child's age as of Oct 31 while ICS counts the child's age as of Aug 31.

It's better to check with each school that you are interested in applying for.

The "cut-off birth date" for Year One of each school is different. Parents should call the school up for the right information to avoid misunderstanding.

I heard some P1 students at SJS are 6 years or 7 years old (born in 2003 or 2004) instead of 4 or 5 years (born in 2005)
