Dear all,

I attended the seminar and the principal said even the kid is not studying in English kindergarden, it is still no problem to catch up in school, espcially the English environment.

becoz my kid is now studying in normal chinese school which has very little homework, we just afraid if she can study here? before we send our application form, we want to know more...

can anybody help? thanks alot.

唔需要擔心,小朋友學野好快,我個仔e家係屋企中意睇係英文台,有時同家姐爸爸都係用英文溝通,不過就英文好過中文,因為佢話中文d字好難寫,英文容易d,你ge問題,係第一個學期可能出現,不過好快追上的!

e家我細女今年都升小1,佢都係一樣讀普通幼稚園,英文同普通話都唔係好,不過呢兩日佢番學,問佢老師講野佢明唔明,佢都話多數都明,都有部分唔明的~

may i know which kindergarden your son came from? now if he is in p.3? p.4?

because our girl is really not good in english and she is not used to do lots of homework.

in fact, when i saw the english dictation content example during the seminar, i thought it was not easy for my girl, i cannot imagine how long it would take for us for revision

how did your son catch up in the beginning?

if he likes this school?

佢地兩個都係畢業於"信義會幼稚園"
個仔讀.p.3了,
唔駛擔心,家長更加要多d信心,因為小朋友會被你影響ka~

do you have to use lots of time everyday for revision with the kids? or they can do it by themselves?

as i am a working mum and back home at 7 the earliest... i don't know if i have time to do that

because when i heard from the seminar that the dictation content for the whole year will be given to the parents at the beginning of the term, i thought my help would be very important.

does your boy has any private tutor?

我地無去補習,自己教,初初上學期哥哥真係有d辛苦,因為佢未習慣同埋跟唔上,一放學就做功課至晚上9:30左右,如果有默書仲要攪到10:30-11:00左右,第一個孝試用咗好2星期多時間比佢溫定,不過無科合格....

但第二個學期佢適應咗之後,就好快上手lu,每晚做功課好快攪掂,有時仲識係學校小息時做埋,返到屋企可以睇下電視玩下電腦,跟住孝試我地一樣用2星期時間係咁e溫下去,點知........佢科科都拿到70尾ge分數,我地好開心,因為真係大家都已經唔再吃力係讀書方面,最開心仲係個仔攞埋"進步大獎"

其實分數高我地當然開心但都係次要,最開心係小朋友識得搵到方法應付,佢讀得開心,我地更開心呀ma~right??

thanks alot for your information.

So your son is studying P.2 now? may i know if he was coming from pure chinese kindergarten without much homeworks so it took time for him to catch-up in the very beginning?

becoz our girl is now studying in activity-based school without much training in studying and revision. i am really afraid if she can catch up or not if luckily we are accepted :)

so did you see any kids go to other school in p.2-4 because they cannot catch up?

1 more question: from the "book" that we received during the talk, we found the writing skills of the kids are really good, even for p.1, can you tell how they can achieve this? lots of training? lots of homework? or by guided writing method, similar to drawing class by teaching the technique first?

HUGO媽, 我識答我識答, 比我答小小啦

abb,

lmc 都係活動教學英文小學, 我個小朋友之前讀半活動教學幼稚園, 現在p.1 功課量小, 佢地讀得好開心.
就算你讀間幼稚園係活動教學, k3 先學寫字, lmc 功課都唔深, 不過要留意要小朋友自己寫手冊, 不過lmc website 都有得睇每日家課, 頭一week 就可能要同其他家長一齊傾下, 問下.

至於writing skill, 我見d 英文家課都係畫下畫, 寫生字, 仲有做下journal, 呢d 都係練習writing 的初步, 文校長都叫我地要鼓勵小朋友多d 寫信, 比家長, 比老師, 比校長都得, 總之就要鼓勵佢地寫野.
