I hate the book reports a lot! The concept of reading books is good, but why they need to put so much constraint on the format of book reports. I hope the teacher can realize that the students did not learn much from the book reports. They are just the burden of the parents. Do the teachers understand that quality is more important than quantity?

Those students who studing in Government school can plan to have activites on holiday, but we have never ending homework to do.

Dear All,

I just sent an email to the subject teacher to ask if can extend the deadline to date before Christmas. For this 2 months time, I would prefer to spend more time for revision of different subjects. I really want to start the book report after 1st term assessment.

Just read the school notice will have the parents and teachers meeting on 15Oct. I will express my opinion on that day again.

Hi,

I am a P3 parent and I am not very happy with the book reports requirement as well.

I think the idea is good for the kids to read more books. But, PERSONALLY, I do not think the kids would learn a lot by doing book reports and particularly in designated format. You know, this, to a considerable extent, limits the type of book being chosen. My kid now has more interests in reading science / history topics and we find difficulties in filling up the boxes.

Besides, the kids would lose interest in reading if they have to provide answers to certain questions afterwards.

It would be less irritating if the book report is free format and kids are thus encouraged to express what they think / have thought about the content freely and creatively.

The school sounds like moving towards the traditional track.

完全同意. 我囡囡都喜歡睇younger scientist 呢類書. 希望學校可以改吓個format 啦.

A very bed news. Teacher's reply is:

"According to the whole Chinese department decision, students will not be obliged to finish the reading journal completely. So the deadline will not be changed , but students can pick some parts to fill in according to their time and interests. I have informed them in today's class.

Hope you satisfied with our decision."
