You are living in Tung Chung, right?

Ying Wah is closer than St paul. But is that the only thing you concern?  I am sure that you have some other issues in mind

not information to comment at all

我會揀聖保羅男書院小學
牌子老信用好

那邊的學區好
港大又在附近
讀書風氣盛

中學直接就在港大對面
個個仔都會以港大為目標
幾好wor

St. Paul boys will move to Pok Fu Lam very soon.  If you live in Tung Chung, you better choose Ying Wa.

Hi eunice1015

May I ask you another question here?

我想請問St. Paul Boys' 學校俾唔俾學生用有卡通公仔嘅袋來載水壺同食物盒返學校呢?  As I am now start to preparing the stuff for my son who is in p.1 after holiday.

Thanks.

Since your son is in P6 now, may I also ask .....
(1) is the min average to go to St.Paul College is 80% plus a conduct in "B"
(2) Is it almost every kid able to go to SPC?
(3) as there will be one more class adding to  each grade starting from 2012, will it be the same percentage (85%) can go to SPC?
(4) Is the academic very difficult to handle? Some says their English, esp comprehension is very challenging.
(5 ) Is the school very strict on everything?

I am appologized that I've asked so many questions, coz I really don't konw much about this school, but I really like this school.
Thank you very much.

yeesumyin,

1 & 2) As far as I know, 80 out of 90 students will directly go to secondary school if you wish.  I am not sure for the conduct caused my son actually studied in St Joseph Primary from P1-P4. He only transferred to St Paul Boys last yr.
3) Not Sure
4) The comprehension is depended on your Eng ability, there is nothing you can revise before the exam.  Last yr, he got the highest  for Eng comp was 96, and the lowest was 87.  You should do more Eng Comp during your free time.  Then your exam mark will not be too low.
5) No.  That's why I transfer here

Am I solve your problem. Bye:)

btw, I think your son is very smart, as he's can "survive" in St. Joseph for 4 years. I've heard that St. Joseph's academic is very high.

So do you think studying in St.Paul is less stress than studying in the previous school, or is there any other ways tha you think St.Paul is better?

Andy,

Compared with St Joseph and St Paul Boys, St Joseph is academic harder and more difficult than Paul Boys'.  The reason I change him to Paul Boys' is the school atmosphere.  At St.Joseph, the students come from different background (From the government primary 1 lucky draw allocation).  Some of the parents may need to work a lot and they have no time to take care their kids.  So those kids become not so interested in studying and they play too much in class.  (For my son,he likes too much to play with the naughty students in class )Whereas all the students at either SPCC or Paul Boys come from interview, none of the parent will accept the kids don't study properly.

What you said was a good point, students in gov't school come from diverse background, that's why those schools have to do a lot on discipline if they want their students to have good behaviour.

Is Wan Yan better in training up students' discipline?  Anyone knows?

Well, I got this from my Facebook friend who's an old boy of St Paul's Boys (secondary school).

http://www.spc.edu.hk/docs/news_from_spc_10.pdf

Pls turn to p.27 and take a look at the 2009 figures.  I was told that those who took the 2009 A level were students admitted in 2002 under the new DSS regime.

For Ying Wa, I have no idea.  I just know the Snoopy headmistress appears to be very keen in making the school famous.

Hi andy26,

From the chart on p.27, the no. of students entering the local universities (esp. HKU and CU) stayed at a consistently high level prior to 2009.  For example, in 2008, there were altogether 37 SPC students going to HKU/CU.  However, the figure dropped to 8 in 2009.

On the other hand, the no. of students enrolling in Associate Degree/High Diploma (last row of the chart) rose abruptly from 15 in 2008 to more than doubled at 33 in 2009.

The secondary section turned into DSS in 2002 (while the primary section, according to its website, became a DSS in 2003).  I don't know if the change had attributed to the drop in academic "achievement" (sorry that I used this term to correlate "no. of students going to universities").

Well, one thing is for sure - if our kids excel well academically (and socially and much more under the new 334 arrangement), we don't need to worry.

Anyway, I will also try SPC primary for my kid.
