Victoria/ 聖公會幼稚園 (鐵崗)???

Dear parents

I am a new member of baby-kingdom.  I have some questions to ask concerning whether Victoria Kindergarten (Upper Kornhill)or 聖公會幼稚園 (鐵崗) is the best for my son.

Firstly, I would like to tell you some of the background of my son.  He is now 23 months old (next week will be 2 yrs old). He is very active and can only speak single words.  His concertration span is very short. He is now studying a  pre-nursery programme at Victoria Kindergraten(five days/week).  He enjoys going to school and likes the teachers as they are quite nice.  He will directly stay at this kindergarten until K3. He can even directly go to Victoria Primary and Seocndary Schools with IB curriculum (Shum Wan).

On the other hand,my son gets a K1 place in Sept 2005 (pm session). When I see the comments from many parents in this website about this kindergarten, both of them are good and positive.   Actually,I am not very clear about the background of 聖公會幼稚園 (鐵崗).  Is there any linkage between this kindergarten and St.Paul Co-ed?  Is it  suitable for my son who is vey active and does not like discipline vey much?  Is it a very traditional school?

Grateful if you would give me some suggestions whether I have to choose Victoria or 聖公會幼稚園 (鐵崗) for my son as I don't know how to make such an important life-long decision.

any decision is also a bet, a risk to take....

from what you are saying, you son seems to be very much playgroup type kid which need a lot of freedom to exercise his expression. I see he is only going to be 2 year old, you have victoria to back up, but you are being overwhelmed by other parents comment on SKH... SKH also is a good school. they have nearly 700 applicants for 120 seats. So, you would know that there must be something.

I can't tell you what SKH is good at yet as my son is not going to be there until next year, but I personally, only personally.... I am not a fan of Victoria either... I have been to the one in Beltcher. I was impressed with the level of teacher's crew... But then I truely believe I can found something better than that by paying $1800-2400 approx per month for that environment. when it comes to facilities, no place beat Kau Yan, if you haven't been have a look,please do... Victoria is famous but I personally like the idea of being cost-effective as my basic principle....

I personally prefer 聖公會.  As far as the curriculum is concerned, I think it is perfectly ok.  Not being a bilingual school hardly matters, as most parents end up sending their kids to other english / phonics / madarin classes outside school anyway.  What I like most about 聖公會 is the discipline - the majority of the kids have very good manners, and are more well behaved.  Victoria kids are ok too, just that they are more carefree.

What do you mean by "not bilingual"? SHK not providing English and Mandarin class/ learning?

The school has english classes 3x a week and mandarin 2x a week.  Victoria - english classes everyday.
