Should I give up Ying Wa for St.Paul Boys?

我都係註冊咗呢兩間，都唔知點，結果我將個波交番俾個仔，兩位校長佢都見過又傾過計，都應該有佢自己見地......結果佢話鍾意陳校長多d，咁咪St Paul's Boys囉！

其實未決定，st Paul 只有80-90%直升，但林校長好係超有熱誠，但st paul 又好出名，但YW interview much harder... ，所以Ｄ學生好叻....你點睇？

上次我仔上"學林數"有個St Paul六年級哥哥, 佢話其實嗰10%上唔到中學係因為有d去咗其它學校, eg. St Paul Co-Ed(今年好似有5個), 只係有3幾個因為品德較差唔收。

致於林校長, 佢確實好有熱誠, 但係每年佢都花4-5個月做小一面見, 咁餘下既幾個月又係咪可以好全面咁照顧一至六年級既學生呢?  而且, 又唔係林校長做亞仔班主任, d老師既年資都要考慮!  YW d學生好叻...點為之好叻?  老實講, 我都係近呢幾年先知有間YW小學, 我冇朋友畢業於YW, 真係不太清楚。

不過現今既學校, 一唔一條龍...總之, 讀唔上都會請你走!

其實兩間學校都有支持者, 我哋又唔係舊生仔, 全靠亞仔自己努力考番嚟, 又真係驚簡錯; 我選擇St Paul除了我亞仔鍾意外, 我本人亦考慮佢全級人數, 學校對90總比150容易照顧!

以上只係我個人意見, 不如學我咁...將個波交番俾個仔啦!

That's true, we're not the old boys of YW or St.Paul,
that's why I'm so worry to make a wrong decision.

Today's "Headline Newspaper" says St.Paul College only offers 12 seats for others primary kids, while YW only offer 10 seats.

I think they're very close and very competitive and both are equally famous and difficult to get in.

Anyways, it's nice to share my thought with you here.

Just for your reference:
SP: primary-90 & secondary-180
YW: primary-150 & secondary-150

還有, SP 有些科目會將3班分為4班教, 真是值得考慮; 妳還可以比較吓兩所學校既課本, 就會知道那間較接近其它男校!

Personally, I think St. Paul's is a much better choice. I do agree that Ying Wa improves a lot these days under Mrs. Lam's guidance and YW is really good at Sports.

However, in terms of overall impression and overall achievements, I think St. Paul's is in a higher rank with no doubt. Even in terms of history and quality, St. Paul's is well-known as a prestigious and famous school.

Well, if your boy is really that smart and lucky that he gets offer from both schools, I personally would prefer St. Paul's.

it's much depended on the  type of teaching you are looking for, St Paul Boy's is a traditional school. I have got both offers and I have chosen YW.

people here can only give you their impression and personal experience or opinions about the schools. Since you have visited both schools, I guess the best way is to make the decision according to your gut feeling. Both schools are sure good schools and I don't think there will be huge academic difference. But since the schools' style and teaching methods are completely different, you better do some in-depth research and see which style will fit best to your son.

Many people have asked me why i given up St Paul boys and also some other offers from other very good schools and has chosen YW..In fact, I don't have much struggle over it as I know my son well and I know what's my expectation to a school. Instead of asking the parents here, maybe the best thing is ask yourself again as you know the best about your son.

謝謝你們真心的回應。小朋友比較活潑，其實應選YW。但St.Paul College 課程比較優勝，成績亦很好。

可是若SPCPS 2012 增多一班，但小六時中一college 收SPCPS人數和現在一樣，即入讀SPC 機會只有70%。若到時真的失手，便更麻煩。

OF course you are the one to make the final decision, but before making a right decision, why not listen to others' opinions first and investigate later?

One thing is very true, although YW is now improving and I believe that the principal is really good and nice. However, St. Paul's has a much longer history, there are something called 'experiences'. This is what exactly YW is lacking of at this moment. Due to those 'experiences', I am sure that boys can grow in a much well-planned education.

I personally admire YW's teaching very much, as it is really lovely while boys can learn very effectively. But looking through St. Paul's website, there are quite a number of ECAS and other activities. With reference to other parents' comments, St. Paul's is not a school just for learning, I believe.

Also, as St. Paul's is famous, there are many successful alumni which can certainly give boys suggestions and network. I heard that there is mentoship program in secondary which is really helpful in the future.

All those are ONLY MY opinion, you can agree or simply disagree...
