國際學校 vs 本地學校

阿仔好快要開始nursary, 跟住 kindergarten, 小學, 中學要考慮埋. 想比佢讀國際學校, 原因如下:

1) 唔想佢成為白老鼠, 一時母語, 一時334
2) 想佢英文比人優勝, 有好的口音, not hk english
3) 想佢開心學習, 唔想只靠背誦等.....

總之都係想佢好, 但我又好怕選擇錯, 害左佢. 有無媽媽可比d意見呢? 你地對國際同本地教育制度有咩睇法呀?  感激!

i have same thinking as you. my son is studying in st catherine, he got offer from ESF K2..i am struggling which one should i choose. most of the parent want their kid to go st catherine, now i am thinking to quit.....is it worth to choose ESF to quit st catherine lei...i want my son can speak good English, see "wide", not only focus on doing homwork...dim suen

it's really really hard to choose, St. catherine is so difficult to enter.  But I think English is one of the point we would like to choose International education, but the other main point is do you want the kids study under HK local education system like the white rats.

I think of 1 more point to support IS study last night, all around the world, like Australia, Signapore, Candar, their student all use similar system to learn but why HK is different? and why we have to follow the different one instead of follow the world standard???  It's easier for kids to connect to the world in the future, globalization is what we always talk about, right?

starting from ESF K2 do not grant any priority as ESF kinder student for ESF Year 1 interview.
if u go for ESF K2 merely because u want to continue in ESF Year 1, think twice.

May i know what you mean by 'similar systems' for those country? they have the same curriculum??

I have the same problem.

But my kids are studying in primary school already.

Regarding 334, it is a path to connect to the world & remember that it takes time for 'change'.

you may visit this school, it is a local school with  international facilities. i know school using english to teach general studies in P.1 and science topics.

想同我大家分享一下，我最近上網睇到一個鬼婆，因為某ｄ原因，被迫送個仔入ls，不過係band 3，所以佢對本地學校有ｄ睇會．

佢本身有幫本地學生補中文，佢學生中甚至有拔X，但係佢好驚訝，點解香港寫英文咁規範，甚至規範到錯！佢舉左一個例子，拔X要求學生寫I eat THE dinner，但係native speaker根本冇人咁講，但係學校insist，佢唯有教學生，做學校功課就咁寫，但係佢教作文時就唔好．

我去書展，經過見到本物野cambridge english idioms習作，好奇睇下，真係嚇死我，點解有一半以上嘅idioms我都唔識？我中二開始係外國讀書，九成半同學係白人，放學我返屋企睇英文電視，係外國住左十年，唔敢講自己英文係超班，但係都有八十分卦．於是我call我細佬，佢六年班開始係外國讀書，佢嘅圈子係全鬼佬，讀完大學重要做左幾年野，係個邊十五年，問佢D idioms佢一樣聽都未聽過．我只係覺得好好笑，因為我肯定呢ｄ idioms，有ｄ已經冇人用，連鬼佬自己都唔識，等如廣東話，語言會進化，唔會停留，唔用嘅，學來做物，真係好彊化．

Totally agree!!! I went to take UE when it was my time.  I only got a B in writing!  I As my GCSE Eng. & Eng Lit as well as A my GCE A-level.  It puzzled me!!!

What I found out later was that I didn't write according to the syllabus, ways that would give me points.  How rediculous?!
