My son got around 30 /140 and the teacher said he is in the middle of Band One or a bit above of it.
We have applied STMC and LKM.
Any Comments on this?

I meant the selection of levels of the school.
Also , if he cannot be assigned to one of the two school, then which one is better for " knocking door"?

Which school your son is studying at?
You need to adopt different strategies @ different school.
When your son's school is good then your knocking door's strategy could be a bit more aggressive. Otherwise........
I think it depends on what middle school will be assigned to your son at July - STMC + KCC + PYC is good choice for you. But mostly PYC & KCC & STMC are at the same time for it's pen-exams.
Yr son is at 2x/1xx, so LMC, LKM, TST, STG you don't need to knock.

it is a good school. it had hi entry rate into PYC, LKM, TST and LHK last year.
I think your son can be a little more aggresive in knocking door in case he fails in lucky-draw. STMC is also a good school but historically DCFW has low entry rate for it (only 1 in 2009, max 2 in 2008).
Do you know the reason why?
Therefore I suggest you to focus on PYC/LKM (both have hi entry rate in recent years) - it may be better chance for DCFW students.
BTW what's the order of school-selection when you preapared for lucky-draw?

Section A : LKM, STMC, STgov ( just to fill up the space )

Section B : LKM, KTS, LHK, CWG, WuChung ..........


Is it too conservative?
May be we are not brave enough!

That's reasonable for your case.
I guess you will hit the first 3 choices in lucky draw. Chance is >80% indeed!
If I were you I'd be a little more aggresive that : LMC(or TST)>LKM>LHK>CWG>WC.
If you get LKM in july there is no door to knock for you - may be STG.

Agreed! Can put LMC, TST or STG in 1st choice, because known that some band 2 student admitted by LKM last year, so not 100% band 1 student in LKM this few year , but I would like to know that knocking door in July, chance for STG > LKM?  Do you know anyone who is successful in knocking door by STG?  and what's the school result of the student?

Discretionary Place & Central Allocation (Part A & Part B)1st choice I also chose STG, successful rate only 50%, because he is not studing in STGPS, my son is Band 1 and his brother graduated in STG last year, I wish some marks can add for him:) for this reason, moreover, my son has some confident after interview....but Central Allocation place 2nd & 3rd choice is STTS & LKM, LHK is the 4th choice, so if the number is not good for him, most probably allocate to LHK, and then I will knock STG & LKM, since STTS no place for the student not put their school in 1st choice

yes TTS is so hot this year that if anyone don't put it at 1st place, he most probally will fail - really crazy.
This may because TTS is going to move to new location at Tai Wai station, makes it attracted all attentions.
For STG, can you go to visit the school in person and let them awared your younger son? any priority for him by doing that?

全班第一?我個仔全級最叻那一次都係第九,另外兩次都係十幾名,但成績表沒有寫名次,只是見家長時老師跟每個學生及家長講,但亞仔張成績表都幾靚架 ,只是視藝及音樂唔係A,其餘全部都係A,那麼去叩門的話,那間中學只是看成績表的話如何得知這個學生排名呢?如果好似我小朋友的case,是不是不提排名還比較好呢?可不可以講唔知他在學校排名呢?因為很多英中只給考全級頭5或10名有叩門位

點解冇全級名次架？
我記得舊年 TST 叩門要考頭3名先比攞表，LMC就冇分，LKM就頭10名。
叩門位年年都唔同，一般以5班計，會有大概20個位，如果嗰年多留班生，咁就會冇咁多；好似都係每年 5-6個左右。
攞表最好放榜前一日打去問，有D可以 Download。
