I really liked edexp's answer and understand the logic of it.  But may be this little baby wl be left at home with the helper whole day while parents are at work.  Or may be he is the only child that needs to mix with other children.  Othewise, agree with you home is the best at his age.

Even for these reasons, 6-month is still too young for playgroups.  He will benefit from the activities when he reaches 1 or 1-1/2 years.
