Adapting to K1

Can any experienced parents share how their kids adapted to the K1 environment? Such as going to school without orientation week (ie with parent/helper's accompany), travelling on school bus by their own.

My kid study in a local nursery now, although he adapts quite well so far, but just worry about whether he could adapt easily a totally new environment after summer holiday, especially having to travel on school bus (the nursery is just walking distance from our home now) and cannot have orientation week.
