PTH teach Chinese subject is very important today,
at our time, we use Cantonese, my chinese still 'terrible', cannot write a formal letter .e.g. letter of complaint, resignation letter, employment l ...
I totally agree with ggboymum, PTH is a must in nowadays. If we don't pick it at our young age, it's even worst when we grown up. Just like our last generation, their PTH pronunciation is always a joke....... do you want our kids hv the same result ?
There is no harm to use PTH to teach Chinese and it would be great even extend to few more subjects like Maths if our resources can support it.
You know Pui Kiu uses PTH as a medium of teaching in all subjects except Eng fm P1-P3 and their students PTH are able to master at fluent level.
Of course, we can't just simply realy on PTH speaking then claim that it can promote our Chinese level, this also depends on kids learning ability and reading volume.
What's wrong to simply Chinese? It's a very gd milestone to promote Chinese, simplied version allows you to write and communicate in a more efficient way. The main purpose of language is to communate with others. Then why can't we look at the other point of view? Like Sin they had realized this is useful and had changed to Simplied Chinese for many years. |
