不強調競爭的教育

之前都同幾個家長share過, 今日又同大家溫古知新啦!!


[不強調競爭的教育(一)及(二) (AM730專欄作家葉頌昇)


(一)

在 H1N1的假期中，家長信天翁在寄來恐龍的功課中，附了一份來自《公教報》對芬蘭教育成功的評論文章，引來我這個本來對北歐教育有著好奇而欣賞的教育工作者的注目。後來在書店找到由陳之華著的《每個孩子都是第一名》的書，令我對芬蘭教育有更深的了解和認識之餘，更找到自然學校在教育理念的堅持上，和異地教育的信念和價值，有不謀而合的地方，及值得參考的地方。

在國際經濟合作發展組織(OECD)的調查中，芬蘭已不只一次登上最佳學校教育冠軍的寶座。2003年，在受調查的四十一個國家的中學生中，芬蘭學生的閱讀、邏輯、數學與自然科學能力，都是一流。芬籣教育改革的成就，重點不在於爭朝夕，也不鼓勵孩子做無謂競爭，強調互助合作，這更是社會主流價值取向，這跟香港無時無刻都在強調競爭，汰弱留強的精英主義有很大的分別。芬蘭教師把注意力放在教導孩子擁有足夠的能力，在人生適當和必要的時候，與他人互相合作並自我保護。只有當每個學生都能在學校學會了應學習的東西，競爭力便自然產生了，反而不是因為你是從某某中學、某某大學、某某科系畢業而來的。故此，芬蘭從小學、中學到大學的差距不大，家長根本不必擔心孩子進了不好的學校。

在台灣，法例規定一般中小學校是不能以能力分班的，即沒有所謂的精英班。香港學校不單可以按能力分班，而且政府主動進行能力分校，即是全校中學分成三個組別，結果造就菁英主義，家長爭先入讀名校小學，為的是能入讀第一組別中學，加上傳媒爭相報道成績優異的學生......孩子自小在競爭的環境長大，習慣要贏過別人、以分數論高下。

(二)

芬蘭相信教育是給每一個孩子的，當資源過份集中在少數的精英分子，反而令他們看不到公義，看不到基層市民的貢獻，當權力集中他們手中，更有可能會變得操縱和腐敗。芬蘭教育強調學生之間多合作，讓孩子自小看到人人不同，互相尊重；過度競爭只會帶來不必要的內部耗損，孩子不用爭誰是第一，反而學會欣賞能力不同的人，也懂得關顧一時落後的人。

芬蘭學生能在全球的比較中，閱讀、邏輯、數學與自然科學能力脫穎而出，表現一流，相信有賴芬蘭成功的教育改革，而教育改革離不開社會主流價值觀，不獨芬蘭，其實北歐社會都強調公平與公義，連帶教育政策亦帶有公平正義的色彩。

芬蘭某政府官員說：「國會議員不會比廚房阿姨更了不起，議員或部會首長，只不過是有不同領域的專長罷了，大家各司其職、各有所長，互相尊重。」現實世界中的芬蘭，貧富差距低，做醫生官員的工資，不會比做農夫的高很多，所以不管學生選擇何種工作，都不會被人看不起，所以升學不是唯一的選擇，故此在芬蘭選擇職業訓練的學生，超過一半，即使選擇了職業訓練，將來亦有不同升學的途徑。

反觀香港，自九七以後，一步步取消職業訓練技能學校，孩子只能選擇升讀文法中學，而不能繼續升學的孩子，好像注定一生只能從事基層、低薪及工時長的工作，這難道便是和諧社會所具有的社會現實嗎？君不見正生書院只能在傳媒廣泛報道之下，才得到政府的認可？可見特區政府的遠見，只停留於四大支柱、六大產業，走不出經濟掛帥的狹窄目光之中，人才培訓只能停留在「對經濟發展是否有用」的工具理性上。結果只是創造一個「河蟹」社會，官商勾結，貧富懸殊。]

ummm.. 想問問ymca(東涌)不是幾好的嗎?
we have friends visited the campus and talked with the principal.
seems they are very impressed and willing to put their children there!
i'm interested to know more what the other thinks if anyone knows more about this school.

如果小朋友讀書冇天份加上唔肯讀, 讀邊間小學都一樣, 以我所知, 考14x過外大多是外藉学生, 中國人好少唔理小朋友的学業。

自己個小朋友成績差, 點可以怪学校

正如mamimummy所講, 直屬小學都唔可以100%直 ...

唔知你所講兩科唔合格是否包括主科的中英數？ 如果係主科， 問題真係好大， 因為莫講話兩科主科， 一科主科肥佬， 都好難搵到好學校了。 雖然話直資好多時都收BAND2~3學生， 不過前題係主科3科都合格， 同埋操行要有B ...

這十所中學排名

唔知名家長對這十所中學排名點睇.
其實 lasalle, dbs, st joseph, st stephen's 係 band 1, 個個都知...
我反而有趣知其餘個幾間係band幾同校風如何!!

--(有部份是外籍生, Banding 當然不是band One, 但實際 band 2 or band 3 就不知)
--有自己小學一條龍, 有band 1 至band 3的學生
如中學先考入, 我估至少要band2頭先入到, 收生唔多, 又英中, band3好難會收！

--we have actually heard form a friend who have talked with the principal during the open day. and found that she has an interesting version on the school curriculum and education.
a lot of foreigner pupils...
new campus seems very good, and they are somehow more and less like an international school than traditional local system. the school fee is not excessive...
