有冇人報讀過小狀元的小一面試班, any comment??

Yes, my daughter studied there from April to October.  The result is just so so for me.  I have even paid extra for special DGJS and Good Hope classes but my daughter was rejected by DGJS and wait listed by GH.  I would not say it is totally useless but it is not that useful in my case.

No use at all.

They will not disclose any material they used in class. They don't allow parents to drop down note in the briefing session after each class; can't drop down the interview questions after the so called trial interviews. This creates very bad feeling in me, coz I have paid for the information!

The thing which upset me most is that they keep on telling me my daughter has good performance and good chance, but I was told by my daughter after her first interview (which is Good Hope) that the teacher asked her to stop moving! I go back to ask the 小狀元 teachers whether she moves alot during class, and they told me "YES", but she is improving! How come nobody ever tell me about this before so that I can pay more attention to that?! They keep on telling me my daughter is very well prepared instead.

No need to attend interview class.. it is a waste of time and money! You can train the kids up by yourself!

Same here. A bit improvement on IQ questions, full sentense answering, but not focus on each student's situation. It may be due to large size of class.

My son studied from Dec to Oct last year. He got accepted by GT, KTS, CKY, SPCC, 2nd in DBS and he's in SPCC now.

綜合幾位家長的意見, 都是唔好多過好。請問各位認為是否需要讀面試班呢?

They will teach the kids some common sense, i.e. season, family, holidays, picture description, etc. but all those can be done by parents. It's just a matter of time you can spend with the kids.

And suggest you can put the kid in 1 or 2 video taped trial interviews, so that you will know how he/she performs in front of strangers.

My kid is a shy one. I regret not putting her in interview classes. Though I trained her to answer questions logically and clearly, I guess when she's facing strangers, her performance is far from satisfactory. I haven't tried the centre mentioned in the topic, but for my second kid, I will definitely let him attend interview classes. You may research more on other centres.

我的孩子在另外一間(維思教室)讀了約四個月, 不過還是被DGJS and SPCC reject了, 有的offer是音小, WKF , 宣小和香港真光. 我覺得如果小朋友比較靜和害羞, 訓練一下會有改善, 但是否能進入名小學就沒有一定保證.

其實我都唔係要個小朋友入什麼名校, 但因小兒每次見到陌生人都好怕羞, 我擔心面試時會有影響, 所以考慮是否需要報這些面試班, 讓他熟習一下。

Saltegg, 請問你是否幫女兒報讀了速成班? 一班有幾多個小朋友?

問題係....初初面試班老師是小朋友的陌生人, 但上了一段時間, 已經和老師很熟落, 到interview時又見到陌生老師....所以唔work.  

面試班可給小朋友面試心理準備.  上面試班前, 我也沒有太大期望面試班可以有甚麼, 也不依賴老師, 但我覺得時間的付出不成正比.  我的小朋友是有offers, 也有目標學校落空. 但我覺得是小朋友的性格影響有沒有offer.  其實, 每一間面試班也差不多.  不是某一間不好.  老師們也是盡心盡力教.  每間小學有自己的收生準則, 有一個學校style/culture, 面試班只教基本野, 不能針對目標學校.

類似的, 一班大約四個小朋友, 後來我又報了專攻DGJS的班, 但結果連2nd interview 也沒有...

我同意其實專攻名校的班是沒有用的, 請大家不要浪費金錢!!  沒有一個朋友是讀了此類的專攻班而收的.  試問面試的時間咁短, 你的小朋友做到什麼?  但普通的面試班是ok的, 始終小朋友是需要知道面試該做什麼, 不要跟其他的小朋友拋離便ok!.

I agree...... my kid study at 維思教室..... they teach something every kindergarten would teach.

The trained answers are the same for everyone.

Not much help... but expensive

I don't think PI inyterview course is necessary.

I have couple friends who have older kids(around 6 -9), the children never joined anyinterview courses, but they joined the Speech/Drama/Music/Phonic course and participated in the Trinity Assessment - Young performance certificate and/or London of Music - Music certificate.

eventually, they all accepted by either DSS/private school/ International school.

I think the kids gained experiment and confidence when they have the assessment with Trinity/London of Music Assessor. So when they had the P1 school interview, they are not even scare and can answer the interviewers without hesitation  .

Hello Happycj,

The teacher will give a 5 minute briefing to parents in group at the end of each class, telling us what they taught in that class, which give some hints on what you can practise with your child at home. But no individual evaluation, no dropping down of note, no materials... and the 2 teachers seem to be very busy always, and have no time to respond to your further questions, or have to get back to you by phone with much delay...
