入到今年小一,但好擔心唔知點算!

各位smc家長你好,

小兒有幸入讀今年小一,但平日在家只用廣東話溝通,所以有點擔心仔仔開學時會不明白老師講什麼.因此,我已為仔仔找了英國藉老師一對一用英語交談,希望增加他的聽講能力.

你地有無d小朋友同我個仔都係一樣情況嫁? 小朋友要幾耐才能適應呢? 老師會唔會特別去幫呢d小朋友呢?

If you boy is accepted by SMC, he should have attained certain level of proficiency in English SMC looks for.  Hence, you do not need to worry too much.

I think most of the SMC students (local students) use Catonese as a medium of communication at home.  If he is put in a full English speaking environment, he will get use to very quickly.

I think my boy's case is same as you.  He did tell me he did not understand at the beginning and now (in P2) he is ok.

You should not worry too much.
My friend's girl now in K3 of York Int'l Kindergarten,she took 13 shields in Cambridge Starter of this Oct, her speaking mark is full mark, she likes SMC very much, but finally, she was not accepted by SMC. So I guess your kid is good at English, you do not need to worry too much,kids will suit for new school.

本身我個仔係一個怕羞仔,對住d小朋友和同學仔都唔多願講嘢. 我而家已經成日灌輸比佢聽,就嚟要返小學了,你第時間小學有好多嘢學,又可以識多d同學仔,但佢就話,我唔鐘意間學校要講英文呀! 真係怕咗佢唔鐘意返學.

係呢! 我想問吓,小朋友在學校上堂及小息時,老師比唔比佢地講廣東話嫁?

My son also seldom talks. I worry more on his PTH .. I think he won't say a word during chinese lesson!

Which kindergarten is your son studying? If there is NET, he should have adapted to EMI. Don't worry!

我個仔係祟真學生(tt),平時上堂有net,我唸佢聽會好過講,因我地平時只講廣東話,都唔知佢d英語會話好唔好.所以而家請咗個英藉老師同佢講多d. 至於普通話方面, 我就無咁怕,因為我都請咗個經驗老師同佢一對一講. 呢方面佢成績又唔錯喎,只係上咗9個月,佢就由只肯講單字,到而家可以同老師全句用普通話. 你可以試吓?

I've found a 1-to-1 PTH teacher to my home since last Nov. But my son is not very concentrated and always refused to say PTH during the lesson.  Not sure if because he is 有性格/shy or the teacher is not experienced enough.

Do you recommend your PTH teacher? Can you PM the info to me? Thanks very much!

Hi Kiu-mummy,

Nice to meet you. My daughter is also luckily accepted by SMC this year.

I believe that you have already prepared your son well by providing him good environment for language development.

If your son is studying in the international class, I think both his PTH or English listening abilities are not bad because my friend told me that her kid could understand and simply respond to native teachers during conversion.

Therefore, adaptation is no problem.

Hi HKQQbaby or other SMC parents,

I want to know whether we still need to prepare the kids for Cambridge Starter by ourselves as SMC claimed that they would arrange the pupils to attend such exam during the briefing session.
