Transfer Student for P2

My son is studying in P1 at a government school but I am planing to put him into La Salle(LS) or Diocesan Preparatory School(DPS) in P2.  The application date of DPS for transfer students will be from April 1 to 30 for P2-6 for the year 2010/2011.  Please refer below link if you are interested in.

Sorry that I don't know how many vacanies there are available for each grade for eiither school.

Why are you interested in knowing?  It seems your son is studying in IB system, correct me if I am wrong? Thanks.

Totally agree.
My child and one classmate were transferred to DPS and LS. So your son has chance. Add oil!!!

The only regret is that you didn't give it a try.

May I know why you want to change school for your kid? I also like DPS, but my son only gets 15 marks and not fall in NET 41, so the chance for getting into the school at P1 is zero...

I am not the famous wisekid in this forum and my child is not studing in international school. That's why I am asking....

By the way, can you share with me why you want to put your kid in DPS?  It seems that the school is no longer related to DBS.

Oh, I see, sorry for my misunderstanding!

Actually I am not too sure what the best secondary schools are now and I do not really too care it now as things always change.

What I do think now is to train my kid excel in English and Maths, DPS should be definitely better in English level and some aspects comparing with the school my kid is studying in.

Besides, I guess DPS provides a more challenging environment than the school he is in now.

How about you, do you have any similar situation? Like you are trying to transfer your kid in P.2?  Would you please share with me too?

Indeed I am not yet made my decision! As I know the competition is very keen on P2 transfer, school will only invite students with top academic result for interview.  I am not sure if my kid will be selected. There are lots of efforts she needs to put on for further improvement and I don’t want to give her too much pressure.  I will just send the essentials information to schools and see what will happen.  

How do you prepare your kid for this challenge?  Have you discussed with your kid about this and does he feel comfortable with?

hi wisekid,

yes, I did already told him about my intention of transfering him to whether LS or DPS
if possible.  He is confortable with it as I stressed both the schools are excellent.

Though I know the chance might be slim but it is still worth trying and see what my son can do and I will never regret that I didn't try before.

I understand that you do not want to put much pressure on your girl.  However I, on the contrary, put a lot of pressure on him as I deem it as part of my training.  I guess kids in HK lead a too comfortable life that sometimes they don't even know what the world is and thus how to react.

Except he is able to manage good academic results in his school, he doesn't have any strenghts nor rewards till now.

Can you give me an idea what the school your daughter is in and the result of her so that we will see how far or near we can reach our goal?  Or you may pm me if you like.

Just wanna know which school your son is studying?  It makes a big difference !

I think P.2 is much easier than P.3 or P.4 as they require not only excellent academic result but also other talents, such as Oly Maths, Musical achievement, etc...

I do know a lot of successful cases, and they all have the same criteria.
