Hi Ikebukuro .. there are quite a lot of discussions here on KCIS eg. http://forum.edu-kingdom.com/viewthread.php?tid=2114725
My son has got an offer for this school for K1 next Sept (2010) and we are quite excited about this.  For K there is no interview so if you apply early enough they should offer you kid a place.. we chose this school because we like it's bilingual approach (mandarin + English), plus we visited the school once and found that the teachers / staffs are nice and friendly.

If anyone here knows more about this school please do share as I am still trying to find out more :)

Hi CreamBlue...
May I ask if your son likes going to school and do you think that he could really be fluent (native) in both English and Mandarin after his Kindergarten?  Do the kids at school talk in Eng/ Mandarin with each other or do they talk in Cantonese?
Also as a parent what are the things that you like about the school and do not like about the school ?
Would you plan to stay with KCIS when your son goes to primary ?

ha so many questions ! and thanks a lot for your sharing in advance :)

Hi my girl was study in both local in international session in K1 and K2 (1/2 year), both her English and Mandarin has significant improvement. For her, she speak only English with her classmates. I don't know about other children. She speak English may be because some of her classmates (in the local session) don't know Cantonese and she doesn't afraid to speak English.

Hi ikebukuro,
You are also planning to go to both section for your kid! Actually there is many kids like that. In my girl class, 1 kid go to same classes with my girl (both international and local) and they are very good friend. For kids going to both section. KCS have a sleeping room for them to sleep after lunch
(about 45 mins). My girls was not very tried since she use to not sleep during afternoon when she was 3 years old and she sleep very early at night time (about 8:00 she will go to bed). Actually, kids can adapt to any environment.  The biggest problem is for adult, I need to remember the school holidays for both sections!
For primary, my girl have left KCIS. I know one kid in her class continue to stay in P1 in KCIS. I don't know about other kids.

My girl will be in P1 next year and will go to an IS. My girl was in KCIS K1 and K2 1 st semester and not K3. Some years before my girl join KCIS, I've asked a teacher in KCIS about K3 arrangement and she told me that they have half day (KCIS + KCS) for those aim for local primary. I don't know their arrangement now. May be you better contact the school directly to ask about this issue.

I choose KCS for my girl since like many parents in KCS, I love to see my girl fluent in both mandarin and English. Since I was lived in the Island side, there is not many choice that I can have. When looking back, I think KCS + KCIS is not a bad choice. My girl can manage good Mandarin in KCS and have many classmates from different nationalities. In KCIS, she can manage fluent English. Besides, the school fee compare with other bilingual kinder is much cheaper (per hour).
My girl left KCIS since I and my husband want her to go to another IS. We knew it will be much easier to get into that primary if we go to their kinder. There was a time my girl go to both schools. However, it's really too harsh for her so we finally make a difficult decision: to quit KCS.

My boy also got the 2010 K1 offer.  Wanna get your valuable advices to see if KCIS fits my boy (or vice versa).

1.  Mine is a shy boy.  Do you think the teachers are caring and patient?  How many teachers in a class?  And how many students in 1 class?
2.  I will not enrol the KCS local stream.  Does it mean going forward, my child has to continue the study in International schools (be it KCIS or other IS) ?  I have yet to make up my mind local or international schools.
3.  Can you name a few characteristics/qualities of KCIS kinder students?  Say, cheerful? confident? good manner/disciplined? love reading? creative? etc.
4.  Do you have any ideas about the academic performance of KCIS primary?

Many thanks.
