Does anyone know what English proficiency tests are accepted for high schools in BC, Canada?  Is it still TOEFL or are there other tests?

I think you better to aim the requirement of University, the following tests are accepatble for most of Canada universities other than TOEFL.

Michigan English Language Assessment BatteryMELAB
Alternative English Language Proficiency TestsThe GCE A-Level English examination

如果只係讀中學係唔須要考Toefl 嘅.申請學校時只係要香港嘅成績表,入學前加拿大 school board 有一個入學試（英文和數學）兩科,學校會以你的成績分班.當然,如英文未能達標,就不能入讀主流班了.

我剛從Vancouver返,(1)我女女也飛去註冊(Sept 入學,要到24Jun2010 再飛去考試,Bocz( 回港考會考),再將考試成績交去你住址區學校,等學校收唔收,if that school full, Citizen 就一定有得讀,有機會去D無咁搶手學校!先報先得.
(2) 即親自註冊,即按排考試,即入讀(插班)生.
考試內容 English N Maths.

2010 ( for Sept 入學) 日期有 30-4-2010.
May 無得考 move centre.
June 4,22,24,
July 無得考 summer holidays
Aug every day 都有得考.
