Most children can master a new language easily as long as you give it the environment or the exposure.  I do not speak mandarine at home, but my kid still can understand simple mandarine after studying in KCS PN for one year.

The daughter of my sister-in-law is now studying P2 of KCS (since K1), same, no mandarine at home, she has no difficulties at all and can speak pretty mandarine well.  So, I don't have this worry.

Allow me to share my thoughts with you, no need to worry about whether the kids can speak/understand cantonese when KCS is mainly in mandarin and English. I went to KCS since k1 and graudated at P6, then went to another local English school for secondary, I didn't have any problem in Cantonese at all as we spoke cantonese at home.

I really find KCS is a very good school if you wish your children to pick up mandarin in an early stage. able to write good story which is so true !

I will say AM PN very very hard.  I think PM not very hard as long as you are willing to wait.  My friend's boy performed poorly (cried in the interview as he wanted to eat the grapes that the teacher was holding to ask him questions), so, no offer from KCS PN.   However, she submited the letter to wait (KCS's waiting list is for PM class only), she finally had a PM offer in June next year.....before the school begun as some parents forefeited the places before paying the full amount of school fee.  That is why I gave you gays tips, if you like KCS (or any other schools) but with no offer, and don't mind PM class, submit the letter to wait immediately once you receive the letter.  

General rule, PM class is a good stepping stone to the good PN/KG in HK if you don't mind PM class.

Hi Sorb,

Is it common for KCS PN student to study for only 1 yr (N1) and then transfer to other K1? If the answer is yes, do you know which other Kindergartens do these students go to?  Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have the statitics.  For the parents that I know, they all stayed in KCS.  But I learn from another parent that a few in her girl's class have been transferred to those relatively famous KG, like St Paul Convent, SKH or to the international session of KCS, etc.

Sorry, wrongly remember the name of the building, it is Habour Height situated near the Fortress Hill MTR station.  Strictly speaking, it does not belong to North Point.

hihi, I am new to this forum.  I have been seeing messages saying that AM class is very competitive and pm class is much more easier to get in.  Besides school time, May I know the difference between am and pm class? any factors likes teachers, syllabus, activities, etc?  I dun quite understand why there is a big big difference on how to get in.

No difference at all in term of syllabas, teachers or whatever.  AM class is generally more competitive in most KGs (not only KCS) as many parents would like their children go to AM class instead of PM class.  Key reasons: For AM class, the resting time  (afternoon sleep) and the outside interest class schedule of the children is easier to manage.

唔知pn總共會收幾多人呢?....競爭這麼大，有機會收都好喇....am or pm class對我來說真的沒所謂....希望good luck啦 .... :d
