許多學生家長問點解普遍自閉兒認知比較差?

原因係, 普遍自閉兒都有mental retardation, 因此影響著以下幾個學習重要元素:

Communication
delayed speech is common.  Other speech problems and hearing impairment are frequently found among children with mental retardation

Attention
Students with mental retardation often have problems attending to tasks.  Thus, task analysis (the job is broken down into several steps which are taught in sequence) is a useful strategy for helping them

Memory
they normally have the challenge in memory, especially short-term memory.  According to the information processing theory, in order to remember events correctly or the proper sequence of events, we need long-term memory.  However, students weak in short-term memory is even hard to turns it into long-term memory

Generalization (Transfer of Learning)類化

they are less able to acquire knowledge through incidental learning.  That is, unplanned learning resulting from their ordinary daily experience.  講得簡單一點就係唔太識轉彎

要有好的認知能力係需要有良好的學習元素, 可惜自閉兒在以上範疇都比較弱.  所以他們的認知能力相對正常小朋友遜色

小兒輕微感覺統合失調,已開始進行運動訓練,情緒,行為及專注力亦有少許改善.

因他自我中心太強,自己永遠是對的,抗拒他人批評,介意他人對他的評價,有時自信心暴澎,有時覺得一無事處及自我控制力弱,現在成績更一落千丈,好擔心.

成日見報章有認知行為課程,適唔適合呢?
