my daughter is in G2 for Chinese BUT she is selected to join the Chinese enrichment class. I find that she is very weak in Chinese. So strange!
Maybe the class is only for the speech festival!

My son is in G2 Chinese too, I have asked teacher your same question, she said this chinese enrichment class is for speech festival. I think his chinese is weak than G1 students, maybe his PTH is ok, so he is selected for this activity.

And this year, there will be no cambridge course, I have confirmed it from Ms Ma. One of reason for cancellation is the students with full marks (15 shields) did not take this course.

I do not quite understand.  Do you mean students with 15 shields are not required to take "Mover" or those do not want to take in school.

I still cannot login "monkeydad" and so have to create a new username.  Have sent e-mail to BK admin for help but no reply so far.

My boy will have Jap Quiz and dictation on monday.  He said to me he is ok and "it is a piece of cake".  Anyway, good start.

He is still learning adjectives and adverbs - sometimes he looks ok but sometimes he is confused.

Will you enroll the Cambridge mover exam yourself.  Just has the thoughts that we may use this as the template to strengthen their vocab base.

I will not join the cambridge course outside school, since, the course fee is expensive, and I have no time in weekend. I only spell the words with them, and buy some exercises for them, I think maybe we have no time to do it.

G1 Maths is till moving very very slowly. G1 is up to textbook p.30 only. My girl said sometimes she was bored in the class. I'm so worried.

Agreed.....my son also feels bored on such slow-movement in Math.

My boy didn't say so but he asked to me whether he could do up to pg 39 on Wed.  He said many of his friends finished already.

I talked to the teacher last week and was replied that he would mover faster.  I noted another parent had the same question for the teacher.

It appears (at least from our cases) the kids do not have problem in catching up.

I asked my boy about his Maths class in details.  He said he doesn't know G1 is so slow as well as he knows his friends are well ahead.  He said he knew already on what the teacher taught in class.

I have reviewed up to Ch 7 and found there shouldn't be any material issue for them.  Hence, I do not know what's going on with the teacher as I believe majority of the class should not have problem.

The workbook is just up to Ch. 4.  Do we have to finish up to Ch.7 before the quiz.  If so, that means we have to do 3 chapters in 4 days Vs a total of 3 chapters in Sep (Ch. 4 is done on Oct 2).  It looks so unbalanced.

According to my daughter, G1 is up to only the 1st page of textbook chapter 7 (p.36). She did pages 37 & 38 on her own.

I've noticed from the intranet that G2 & G3 have already finished chapter 8 and they are doing workbook on the same. In addition, G2 & G3 have been doing Rev Exe (the thin book in grey color, I guess) weeks ago. I haven't seen any homework on Rev Exe for G1 so far!

Just wonder why the teacher took so long to cover a few chapters.

This really worries me if this prevails.  Is that really a few of the students in the case cannot follow.  As far as I know, the first 7 chapters are very straight forward.  It should not be an issue as long as the kids know summation, regardless that it is 2 or 3 digits.  If it is really a few of them cannot catch up, should the teacher provide them the coaching class during recess or lunch time, instead of having the whole class to wait and get bored?

For me, I do not see my boy has encountered difficulty in this.  I understand your girl and WD40's kid are very ok so far.  I really don't know what accounts for such a slow pace.

Totally agreed.  As per my son said, he also done the Math exercise upto page 40 by himself during recess.  He also claimed the Math teacher teach them so slooowwwlllyyy...not like his P.1G1 Math teacher who moved fast once she awared students could pick up

My boy is very busy tonight, since he has to finish 4 subjects homework,  Chinese- 延伸 ,English - free writing- Halloween, Maths- WB & GS- writing.
we are very very busy.
