What is the expected outcome?

Hello Parents,

I read about an article about the background about Logos which has given the school a very high praise that arouse my interest to understand further about this school.  May I ask you parent what are the three top reasons that you picked the school for your little ones?  What would you expect your children to become by sending them to this school but now others.  
I am a mother of two boys, 1 and 4, and I would love to hear your inputs.  Please help.

Dear dougiema,

To different persons, choose a school can be very rational, emotional or personal.

Just my younger son is studying at the school but not my elder one. Some of the reasons for sending my younger son here are:-

(a) I find him more active and creative;
(b) he is not used to sit still;
(c) he needs more patience, care and love in learning and studying;
(d) it takes time for him to grow up and be mature;
(e) this school is a through-train school that guarantees his futher study;
(f) this school is a Christian school that guarantees his moral, discipline and social development;
(g) this school is modern in hardware and near to my residence;
(h) this school is filled up with high calibre teaching staff;
(i) this school is new in teaching methodology and ideology;
(j) this school is steered by a charming, enthusiastic and energetic Principal;
(k) my child loves to study here after interview...; etc.

Expectations - In my heart I do certainly have expectations on my child as well as on this school. As I said before, this is rather personal and private. To conclude, I wish this school offer what I want and my child study and achieve the goals here fruitfully and happily.

They are of different styles and different disciplines. I only know that my younger son could not survive in the elder one's school. I observe and believe that my 2 kids are now studying happily at their matched schools respectively and both schools are beneficial to their individual development and betterment.

Dear Kangaroo and tiffanyhau,

I have very insufficient information to give comment on the topic. Bear in mind that the School is so new!!

It is difficult to compare it with the long established traditional schools. You wanna to compare with the band 5 estate schools or the top elite schools? I can only say that the teaching materials of Logos are not easier than the similar grades of other schools.

Being a parent, I trust the school (or I can and will quit anytime). As long as I do not quit, I must find the school beneficial or still beneficial to my kid. As long as I believe the school will educate my kid and teach him on the right track, I will support the school and try to make my kid feeling easy, safe, happy and warm by studying in the School. May be finally my kid cannot run straight to the doors of Universities, how can I measure and assure that it is not due to his personal reasons but definitely owing to the inadequacy of the school? Many of us will then tend to become fault-finding and put all the blames on the school, but actually are the stories all 100% true?

I am not professional in education. I dare not deliever a report of "comparison among schools". I should not be qualified. Besides, I do not have any quantitative and qualitative methodology to respond to the topic. All my articles given here are only expressions of my personal feelings which may be bias and of little help to others. Thanks !!

我的兒子就讀2年級.他很喜歡學校,甚至當我想幫妹妹遞交多幾間學校表格(報小一)時,哥哥向我大SELL 真道好,老師有愛心.最後,我只報它,破釜沈舟.

選學校,很迷惘,也不知哪一最好?

我的感覺是:

老師最重要.

它的老師包容量相對大一些,愛心多些,比其他學校,更懂得欣賞小朋友(仔仔畫畫差極都讚賞和鼓勵),老師會嚴厲教導頑皮學生,但不會失控破口大罵,傷害小朋友的自尊心.

每間學校都有好老師和差的老師(失控破口大罵),我相信孩子在真道遇到好老師的機會相對大一些,因在這裡不易做,沒有理想很難留下來.

我在最出名的男校代過課,看見老師出的試卷,跟我小時候做的一樣,計數不用寫過程,只求答案正確!他們的批改,更是......懶惰.  

有時也替真道老師可憐,天天都要回應學生寫的日誌(那是很用時間的).所以,我也很包容他們的缺欠.(行政不及其他學校貼身服務,如把家課上網,一大早通知測驗,默書.)

真道今年更強調小二生的自理,不想家長插手太多.有時的吩咐沒有寫在家課冊上,訓練他們的責任.作家長的,對學校要很支持的.若你是很挑剔的,真道就不會是你杯茶!

有時,我也猶豫,有想過妹妹普通話很靈光,多報播道小學.

但跟朋友談過後,又再堅固起我的信心.就是真道教材和教法創新,老師著重引發學生興趣,YES,他們強調學習興趣.  若你有信仰,真道也適合呀!安排,對!讓神安排一所最合適你孩子的,要有信心!

But principal said he has already interviewed 190 applicants' parents and there are only 210 seats in FS1. What is the chance of a second sibling being accepted?
I am also waiting for 2nd interview.

家長、學生不選擇老牌名校(或不被老牌名校所選擇)，還可以理解背後會有千百個故事；然而，真道的多位重量級教育專家、博士、碩士、學士以至所有專業教師，絕大部份都是極優秀的、大有前途的、已在真道任教了數年的，或逐漸慕名而來的，何以他們都會對學校「死心塌地」？他們都仍抱負理想，要在真道闖出新天，難道他們都不擔心自己的事業「押錯注碼」嗎？

新學校的成長過程及行政方面，難免跌跌撞撞，作為家長，我想我們當扶它一把，就如校長老師們扶我們的子女一把般；一日既是真道人，期望所有家長都會盡心盡力為學校、為教職員、為大家家長、為所有學生設想、服務與支持。

Thanks. But I still hope I can get into LOGOS. i have written 2 letters to principal already, but I doubt if this is useful or not, or the principal will read and consider it or not.
